Are the voulenteers being utilized. I need to let my brother know.
P.S. I just want to shoot the match rain or shine, prizes or no prizes. I need to shoot!

I'd be down to shoot with no prizes nor food.. but not for $70..
Anyone who registered for the match or is on the line helper list is welcome to come out and shoot.savagE wrote:Are the voulenteers being utilized. I need to let my brother know.

The club is covering the range fees as our way of apologizing to our members and friends for having to cancel the match.
We will run the stages with our shooters helping spot and score, no extra helpers needed...

Ok... I have to re-reschedule some stuff but, I'll try to make it out to shoot.
Thanks, for still letting us come out & shoot.

I was planning on showing as a helper but made plans to deliver my truck to it's new owner when i heard the match was cancelled. The good news is, after this weekend I'll have the money for a bolt gun and can actually start participating. Please keep me on the list of possible helpers for the next event.

Sounds like a plan. See everyone there on Saturday. Can't wait to see some of these stages!
Does the club have to cover the range admission fee even if the shooters was already paid up and shooting in the morning? Maybe a few of us can save you some $$$ and get some range time in if that's the case.
Anyone want to get a unofficial side pot going?

Re: 2011 CaRPC Night Match November 19, 2011
I really wanted to avoid jumping into all the drama, especially since I haven't been around lately thanks to life getting in the way. However I feel I've gotta say something here.
Shooters like to shoot rain or shine, I've shot in the rain more than a handful of times myself, but you've gotta see that shooting is different than shooting a match and bringing both darkness and rain into something gets really complicated. I hope everyone that goes out on Saturday has a hell of a time and I sincerely hope that they're safe in case the rain rears its ugly head.
We've got at least one electrician in our midst, but it doesn't take an expert to understand how a night match is run. If you were there last year you know that everything ran smoothly thanks to power from generators and probably 20 extension cords running to the continuous lights and strobes. Do you really want generators and hundreds of feet of live wire out there in the rain? We also had to drive out on to the range to repair and retrieve targets, do you really want to risk getting stuck or damaging the range? For those who weren't there during clean up, there was a live wire that was shot last year which could have turned into a serious danger in the rain.
I guess what I'm getting at here is that a night match requires electricity which makes it very different from a daytime match. I understand that people are frustrated, but you've gotta understand that it just wouldn't be safe to run this thing in the rain. Safety has to be a priority whenever your shooting a match, you all know that.

Lol. Why are you guys killing my action? Just trying to keep it interesting! Besides.. I'm rusty and there's plenty of good shooters around here.
Took a little break from shooting to get married.. now it's time to get back into it. The wife recently said "train me, I want to compete." This ought to be fun!
SCPRC was the first match I did in over a year.. got me hooked all over again! Good to see everyone again.

It's been over a week and no AAR? I'd really like to know how it went because I'd like to attend such a night match some time. I'm looking to find out what worked and what didn't. That includes the shooters equipment as well as the stages and stage props. Good stage descriptions are always nice.
Thanks

Re: 2011 CaRPC Night Match November 19, 2011
As far as the AAR, its up to Randall to post that as match director. I finished 2nd to last, didnt shoot the last stage due to a malfunction with my magazine. All stages went very well, including a little extra suprise. One cable got shot from a center punch right through the stick and into a steel pipe that was holding the flasher cable to the strobe.

All I can say about stage discriptions, is that you have to come out to some big matches that run night stages and see how they are done. I have been to 2 different major matches that had them and it was interesting what people come up with... IR, thermal, regular lights by generators, strobes, back lighting...

Re: 2011 CaRPC Night Match November 19, 2011
I definitly found my self shooting more with a lower magnification so I could find my targets. Since it was pitch dark there was no point of reference to go off of so you either saw your target in your field of view or you didn't. Illuminated reticle was useful but not absolutely necessary. Some stages I used the illumitated reticle and some I didn't because it was too bright and washed out the targets. Having a perfect cheekweld was critical because if you were off you just saw black and didn't know if it was because you are not looking at your target or your weld is off. Just remember where you put your pack or attach a chem light to it and you'd be fine. Overall it was really fun. The stages went smooth. Spotters could detect impacts even without a flashing strobe. Best of all, I was able to recovoer all of my brass:)

I also find it nearly impossable to set parallax at night. One of these days I need to mark my parallax turret for every 100 yds so I could at least just dial in something close.

Or apparently not. Over a week to get to Sacramento? WTF already? This doesnt exactly give a good image on how to run a club.Chevroletkid88 wrote:Checks are all in the mail

I sent all of the checks back and had the post office mark the return to sender and they all went out from there. I have no control of what the post office does and I don't think that mail reflects how a club is run.

Just left the main post office hub in my area. After talking to the manager about all of the letters he told me that anything that gets marked return to sender goes through a separate process and it takes longer. I asked him how long and he said 2-3 weeks. Probably closer to 3 because of the holidays. Sorry about the wait but just hang tight and they will get there.
