The 5 round limit is to keep everyone on the same playing field when it comes to bolt guns not running a detachable mag system.

I like Marks rule better ha!!! That is the reason I invested in a bottom metal, to try to keep up with you guys. If you dont run a bottom metal/ sad story..get with it!Gnzrme wrote:The 5 round limit is to keep everyone on the same playing field when it comes to bolt guns not running a detachable mag system.

Hell no, they could give a rats ass about playing fair. Then again I have never shot a big match so Im just talking smack but I doubt they would have such rule.savagE wrote:Is that 5 rd rule in effect at those bigger matches? I plan on getting dbm but I need better glass first.

I was told last night that we (Caprc) are no longer invited to put on our match as part of the tac rifle match.Chris wrote:Is this match still going to happen?
The tac rifle director Dave Jenkins said that the DM president called and said that it was an excom committee decision and that we (caprc) should team up with the existing precision rifle group within the Desert Marksman club.
I was not aware that there was such a group so I asked Dave if they were talking about Brad Kahn's shoot.
Dave said that he did not know who the precision rifle director was, but it was not Brad as Brad was the longrange match director.
The thing that's odd about this is that the president referred us to tac rifle in the first place...

Referring only to the bold above and with no comment one way or the other, I can tell you it was not an Executive Committee decision.AR15barrels wrote:

That's too bad. Looked like it would have been a good venue.
Just and FYI.
For future reference, if CAPRC wants to operate on other ranges like DM, it would be a good idea to attend a board meeting and ask the board of directors for permission.
A MD may say "yah, let’s do it", but the BoD will have final say. We went through the same issues when kicking off at Sac Valley. I and a few others attended board meetings and made sure the BoD was comfortable with what we were doing on their range.
It took a long time to build a trusting relation between NCPPRC and FSC.
Going to the board meetings and showing that you guys are professionals and not yahoos will go a long way with board members. Their job is to protect their range at all cost, so you have to put yourself in their shoes if an unknown group to them wants to operate on their range.
As a board member, I would be WTF if another club came onto our property and ran a match. We require all external club and vendors to list FSC as an insured on their insurance policies.

This process was started last year at DM board meetings.vu308 wrote:For future reference, if CAPRC wants to operate on other ranges like DM, it would be a good idea to attend a board meeting and ask the board of directors for permission.

In June, we attended the DM board meeting and gave an official presentation to try to obtain an un-used weekend day to run our matches a few times a year on their range.
The president referred us to their "tac rifle" director and recommended we team up with him.
Then we attended one of their "tac rifle" matches and met with the director and he agreed to us planning a match that his crew and our crew would execute in August on a "preliminary trial" basis pending his regular guys and his other RO's approval of future possible matches.

Might be a good idea to hit up the next board meeting and get the scoop directly from the board? Looks like the pres feels differently according to Robert talking to him?
Ranges politics are funny in a lot of ways...so it could just be a mis-understanding that prompted the pres to cancel your match.

Is their Tac Rifle Group and HP/F-Class group seperate?
If so, maybe he meant the HP Group?
A lot of ranges refer to their carbine/3gun group as tac rifle, and their HP/F-Class guys as precision rifle. Believe it or not, a lot of people do not know of, or understand practical/tactical precision rifle shooting.

Chris is the VP of the DM Club which is why he made the comment above that the information is coming from the (DM) Board and that the Board did not cancel the match.
We are and have been pursuing this joint venture thru the proper channels.

Right now, the answer as I know it is, no one. I am going to a secret squirrel meeting here in a minute and maybe I will have some more answers when it is over. Whatever I can let you guys know, I will.
I am a little irritated over the way this seems to have gone down, but I didn't have any say in it.

Re: CaPRC match at Desert Marksman 8/27/11 CANCELLED
I will share that one of the reasons that DM was hesitant to fit CAPRC in is that we have a very full match schedule. There is a match almost every Saturday and Sunday of the month. I might suggest that you guys have a look at the match schedule and look into doing something in the afternoon or early evening. All our matches with the exception of tomorrow nights 600 yard match start at 8 and are usually done by 1 or so.
