K&M Training - Match Shooting Class

Post by 264Charlie »

Hello CaPRC Members

I'm working out the details for a two day match shooting class at K&M Training.

Shannon Kay, the points leader in the PRS and only guy to win three major PRS matches. Not only has he won three matches he did it back to back and has only shoot three this year. Shannon is the best of the best, active military and a hell of a nice guy .

Shannon's Bio
Shannon Kay is the staff’s primary instructor and administers all courses taught by K&M. Shannon is still serving on active duty in the U.S. Army. He has operated in both conventional and Special Operation units, with multiple deployments in support of the Global War on Terror. Shannon is a graduate of both US Army Sniper School and Special Operations Target Interdiction Course. Throughout his career Shannon has expertly trained hundreds of students while instructing at the US Army Sniper School and has traveled the country conducting mobile training courses for snipers and designated marksman. Shannon is an avid competitive shooter and has had numerous top finishes in the nation’s major long range precision matches. For years Shannon has training local law enforcement and civilians privately using their own facilities by word of mouth. He is pleased to now offer a more structured curriculum and environment for superior training results.

The Class will run $650.00 and include housing, meals and two days of private training at THE BEST range in the US. K&M's facilities are second to none.

Some Range Highlights
-3 Movers

Competition Preparation Course (2 Days)
Thanks to Charles, Ryan and other Team GAP members for putting this together! It was really their idea and they are doing a lot of the leg work. We will offer a two day Competition Preparation Course package for CaPRC members and friends only. It will not be advertised or open except to members here in order to grow, support and bring together your community. The course will include transportation from the airport and back, three meals on Saturday and two on Sunday. Dates are 16-17 March 2013. The course is designed for shooters to evaluate and seriously train on a series of exercises and drills commonly seen in today’s national level precision rifle competitions. The K&M staff and GAP team members will provide professional mentorship, demonstrations and hands on instruction to improve your baseline performance. Make no mistake this is purely a competition based course! Shooters will be presented with roughly 25 different events utilizing the entire K&M Facility. We will walk and talk through how to analyze each event, demonstrate different techniques, then let the shooters experiment (with mentorship) and finally coach each shooter as they conduct the event. Each shooter will be provided ample opportunity train and retrain each event. Shooters will leave with improved marksmanship proficiency, an understanding of their abilities and most importantly proven methods to continue their training once the course is over. At the conclusion of the course a small half day match will be conducted for students to demonstrate newly acquired skills against each other. K&M is dedicated to the quality of our training and will limit enrollment in order to maintain a ratio of 5 students to 1 instructor.

Classes will be held at our first class training facility in Baker, Florida.

Anyone thinking of really upping their game when it comes to consistent match performance would be well off to go to this class. The facility at K+M is truly on a different level than most every other precision rifle oriented range I've ever been to.

Shannon is one hell of an instructor. In a couple short days I picked up so many little bits of wisdom shooting out there with him. With the course being geared more toward competition shooting, this class is going to be packed with very pertinent info for our discipline. From building positions to strategizing COFs based on time and point value, he knows what he's doing. After being there and experiencing it myself, I can't recommend K+M enough.

Yep. Whole range open to just this class. And they will run this course no matter whether 2 or 10 guys show up. If they say they are doing the class, they're doing it...despite the turnout. That's straight from Shannon's mouth. That impressed me a lot.
