Sep 9th Tehachapi, CA
I am holding a one day precision rifle match on an AWESOME piece of property this Sunday (Sep 9th).
The match will be open to a very small number of people (20ish), so if you want to shoot it, respond immediately via email with:
“Yes, I would like to shoot the September 9th 2012 rifle match in Tehachapi”
The match will be held Sunday September 9th in Tehachapi, CA.
The cost will be $40.00.
We will meet in Tehachapi Sunday morning at 7:30am, car pool to the ranch entrance and be escorted onto the property. The gates will be locked behind us, so don’t be late… We will start shooting at 8:00 and should be finished about 3:00pm.
You will need
• Rifle and assorted gear (bipod, rangefinder, data cards, etc.)
• 100+ rounds of ammunition (I am planning a 100 round course of fire)
• Food for the day (I will provide water and Gatorade)
The ranch is a 45,000 acre AWESOME piece of property with amazing terrain for us to use. This is a working cattle ranch with great access to wind, light, angles, shooting positions, various elevation, etc. You will be shooting into, over and across canyons and open ground.
We will
• Shoot the VAST majority of ammo at reactive steel targets
• Confirm zero at 100yds before shooting the match
• Shoot from various shooting positions.
We will NOT be
• Needing to stalk, run or carry heavy loads long distances
• Shooting rifles at very short distances at little targets
• Shooting through little angled ports
Where exactly to meet and more details will be given to those that respond immediately via email with
“Yes, I would like to shoot the September 9th 2012 rifle match in Tehachapi”
Only a few spots available...

Damn. I'll be in FL.
The area where this match is being held is awesome. I hunt out there and every time I do, I always think, "they could throw a great match out here." Anyone free this weekend should really consider it.

WHAT?!! No tiny dots at 10 yards or angled ports forcing you to make extremely cool "trick" shots???!
Sounds like my kinda match!! To bad i already have plans for this sunday
cant afford 100rds of barrel life right now on my 243 right before TBRC or Vegas anyway. Please give notice if you do this again as i would be really interested in shooting a match like this next time.

Won 2nd place and a sweet Surefire X300 courtesy of Michael. Great match in an AMAZING location, here's what you guys missed...

-25˚ angle fire with 5-10MPH wind...

This last pic is a full 36MP resolution frame from the D800e where you can actually resolve the targets from 75Y-1776Y!

That looks like a lot of fun. If they announce another match like this, I would definitely try to go.

Re: Sep 9th Tehachapi, CA
Thank you to everyone that came out.
HUGE thank you to my good friend Dal that allowed us to launch bullets across some beautiful country (and for carrying the mile target a l-o-n-g distance from any road.
We had several friends and family getting some experience as range officers, great job by all.
Lots of work to build, set and then retrieve those targets... Thank you to Jeff, Dave and all others that sweat to make it happen.
I wanted to test several concepts for an upcoming large match this November, and results were as expected.
I will post an invitation to the November match as soon as a few details are worked out.
More to follow
