CaPRC Marksmanship Clinic "B" 3-26-11

Post by AR15barrels »

Come on out and join us at Angeles for the 2nd part of our new precision rifle shooter series of clinics on Saturday March 26th.
This shoot will have you gathering dope from 100yds out to 600yds as well as work on spotting and calling shots and making corrections from calls.
We wil be continuing with using the features of the scope and how to make accurate soft dope from your hard dope using ballistics software.
You need to have attended (as a shooter) one of our former "A" clinics during 2010 or 2011 in order to attend this clinic as a shooter.
We will limit this to 20 actual shooters so that those shooters can get maximum range time.
Fees are $50 for non members or $40 for club members.
The entry fee covers the classroom sessions, cold drinks and BBQ lunch and your use of the range for the rest of the day after the clinic is over.
Plan on a full day as the schedule has us shooting until at least 3pm.
You may particpte as a non-shooter, observe the shooting portion of the day and join us for the BBQ for a reduced $20 non-shooter fee.

Image

Tentative schedule as follows:
7:15 Sign-in
7:30 Classroom session on the firing line.
8:15 line goes hot. verify, correct and zero knobs at 100yds (5-10 rds)
10:00 open shooting time with instruction as needed
12:00 BBQ lunch break
1:00 open shooting time with instruction as needed

Some things to bring:
Precision rifle wearing a scope with target knobs, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 80 rounds of match quality ammo, printout from a ballistics program showing your bullet drop in moa or mils as appropriate to your scope, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad and a pencil or pen to take notes.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.

This is a Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting tight groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
If possible, please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero.
We will verify a correct zero at the shoot, but it takes time that is better spent putting rounds on targets.

We are also looking for our experienced club members to show up and help instruct.
If you are able to help on the line, please RSVP anytime up until Thursday the 24th.

RSVP's for line helpers and non-shooters will be accepted anytime.
RSVP's for CaPRC club member shooters will be accepted after 12 noon on Monday 3/21.
RSVP's for non club member shooters will be accepted after 12 noon on Tuesday 3/22.
Any RSVP's posted before those times will be ignored or deleted.

Well, this sucks but I have to also withdraw my RSVP for this saturday.

The recoil lug on my NF direct mount broke off at the range today  and I have to send it to NF for a warranty replacement. I'm guessing the next B Clinic is gonna be sometime this summer?

I hate to do it, but I have to withdraw my RSVP as well. A close friend of mine who has been battling cancer for the past few years passed away last night. Her funeral is going to be Saturday morning. I'm ashamed to say that for a second my selfish ass was mad that it was Saturday. But it was just a passing moment. Sorry for the late withdrawal.

Current forecast is 20% chance of rain.
We're mostly shooting steel so it won't matter.
There's places we can setup the BBQ for lunch under cover so even if it's raining, we can still BBQ.
Game on boys.
