2010 SCPRC AAR

Post by Spaniard »

To those who participated in the 2010 SCPRC it was the best so far and we would have to agree. Having the match in the fall was a change with much cooler temps, nightfall came much sooner and of course a heavier Santa Ana wind than normal. Neither side gave up and came back for more.

With 31 Shooters, 20 stages and a 135 Scheduled rounds for down range over a 2 day period we were busy to say the least. I think the layout we used this year turned out to be a great benefit and kept the teams moving. Day one started at around 1330 Saturday and ended around 2030. At the end of Day 1 we had completed 85 rounds. Of course for some there were "camp activities" that continued well into the night as we set up for Day 2. For some that helped their score, for others not so much.

Day 2 Started at 0730 Sunday Morning with a Cold Bore Shot at 400+ Yards at an 8" Plate. Normally not a hard shot for most the guys, however reading the wind is part of the game and for many they shot right over the top.

By around noon on Sunday we were done and then the final scoring began. At the end of the day the top 10 list was filled with Civilians, Law Enforcement and Military Shooters. I was very impressed with the professionalism displayed by the shooters, Law Enforecement and our Military Shooters.

The 2010 5th Annual SCPRC Overall Winner was a familiar name to most around these parts, Mr. Ryan Kerr with a score of 1,139 Points. Ryan also won Best Long Shot.

2nd Place was captured by Gordon Campfield with a score of 981 Points. Gordon also took Top .308, Top LE Sniper, Fastest 100, Fastest 200, Best LE Sniper Team with partner Wayne Doeden who came in 4th repsectively. He really hammered it during the match.

3rd Place was taken by last year's Overall Winner, USMC Sgt. Dan Gilland with a score of 940 Points and Sgt. Gilland also won Top Military Sniper and won Top Military Sniper Team with USMC Cpl. Tyler Hughes.

Once again, I was very impressed with the sportsmanship by all the competitors and to watch them work their rifles was noteworthy. All great matches however do not happen without a staff and my hat goes off to the 2010 SCPRC Staff and crew who worked their butts off making the match a success. For those in the know, these events are months in the making, many hoops to jump, logisitcs that seem to never end and when game day shows, you just never know what can happen.

I just want to say thank you for all who particpated and helped at the 2010 SCPRC and special thanks to West End Gun Club for hosting the event on site. I could say so much more, however why not do with a photo album. Please visit the SCPRC's website for more information and reviews by those that attended.

One thing I remember about the match is that alot of CAPRC members kicked ass on the sideprone "hot bore" stage.
