I went once.
It was too slow moving for me.
6+ hours to fire only 20 rounds is way too much time sitting around for me.

You could get more 1000yd practice in less time and for less cost by going to Cuyama for their practice day.

I don't do any of those things.

It's 20 minutes from my house and I've never shot a 1k match before.
I got in so I'll give it a try and see what happens.
I'll be at the 1k only. See you other guys there!

I got in for the night half. Anybody going to be there on the 30th?

Btw, there are 2 targets up at 1000 yards that are, or are supposed to be, more or less a secret. If you need 1000 yards practice, get a hold of me or Gnzrme, we're both out there a lot.

knowing how the match runs...they are just now finishing up....Yup, thats right 10 hours to shoot 20 rounds....they shoot them 5 at a time...with atleast 5 minutes between each string and 3-5 relays plus a 1/2 to 1 hour lunch break....makes for a VERY long day....

Shot a 189 4x for the night 600 yard match. 3rd place.
Shot a 183 2x for the 1000 yard match. 3rd relay windy as hell and could not see the flag from lane 4.
Got 4th place for the 2 days combined with a total score of 372.

Two certificates and 2 - 1 oz fine silver dollar coins.

Had a 4.5'' 5shot group at 600 yards.

This was my first 1k match, had alot of fun and learned alot (about wind!)
I was doing o.k. until the wind changed but I didn't notice. One shot went completely off the target and 3 others were in the 6 & 7 rings. I couldn't see the wind flags from my shooting position due to trees. I think I should have listened for when the people who could see the flags started and stopped shooting. I ended up with a 170 7x. Lessons learned.

I didn't have much trouble with the wind but I can think of one shot that was high that would have put me in first rather than fourth at night.

Chris...for sure on this that every shot counts. The difference between 1st and 3rd I think was 3 or 4 points for the 600 yard night match.

At 1k in the magnum division there was a 3 way ties for 2nd place.

It is tough to get 4 consistent scores. That is my goal I am working towards.
One bad shot can take you out of the running real quick.

The first target was a 3/4'' group for shots 1,3,5. 2 and 4 made it 4.5''

If that is your night score sheet on the bottom, you and I tied for third. Brad said I had 189 and 4x as well. 1st place was 192 4x, so three points. Damn close.

Always good to check your scores yourself. I went from like 10th to 2nd one time.

We split before I got my sheet. Brad is going to find it. If he transposed the scores, that means I was third and you were fourth. :D Sounds dumb but it makes a difference to me. Whichever of us shot the 189 6x got the most x's as well as being third. Fourth is cool, but top three means I'm making headway. Sigh, always a bridesmaid. :)

You can't put shots in the 8 ring and expect to win...
