TBRC 2010

Post by AR15barrels »

The TBRC is only about 6 weeks away.

http://www.ncpprc.com/annual_tbrc_match.html

Who's going?
Who's up for camping at the range?
They allow camping in RV's, trailers and cars/trucks, but no tent camping due to snakes.
Otherwise, let's get everyone in the same hotel so we can party as a group!

The trans in my truck is fried otherwise I'd tow my toytrailer up for some of us to stay in and party out of. Oh well... money is tight from non stop rifle builds so its probably best to conserve anyway and just stay in So Cal.

I have a feeling its going to be hot. After a long day at the range sweating my ass off, an air-conditioned room, shower, and a trip to BJs sound better than camping.

Have they posted the roster?

The match filled up in something like 5 minutes.
I was mostly posting this for people that are already in.
Perhaps Grandslam will be along shortly though to tell us what the deal is on extra guys coming up to hang out and possibly help out.

No spots available.....Like Randall said, it filled really quick. And as far as people coming to help out, we pick our crew almost 6 months in advance to be sure that they know what kind of comitment they are in for. Spotting hits isnt always as easy as it seems. So we dont need any extra help, and Im not 100% sure that spectators are allowed. You would have to talk to Vu on that. I concentrate on my 1k pit job and dont worry about what everybody else is doing. Its a brutally long weekend, and Im already looking forward to it being over.

Guys,

Everyone is welcome to come check things out if they wish. We have a pretty nice BBQ lunch dinner that happens on Saturday and a Hamburger BBQ on Sunday.

The BBQ on Saturday cost 20.00 per person that is not shooting in the match. Randall and Ryan can tell you its a pretty good meal.

I just need a firm head count so that I can have my BBQ guy cook more food. Will need a head count and funds sent in soon if you wish to come.

As for help with the match, we already have a range crew of 30 and do not need any help at this time.

Thanks,

I will do the squads on Friday night before the match, after we have all the shooters check in. We have last minute drops every year so I do not squad until I know who is in for sure.

Those that do plan to come watch...bring your gear and if we have a last minute drop. Cost is 185.00 that includes a hat and shirt, meals and two full days of shooting.

Edited to add: Not all So Cal shooters will be squaded together. This year I have placed all the shooters that have finished well in past TBRCs in the same squad so that they can compete in the same conditions.

For any of those who might come up and bring gear just in case a spot opens up. Be fore warned, once you leave the staging area each day you need to have EVERYTHING you might possibly need for the whole day. Tools, ammo, spare parts, snacks etc (water is provided). There's no going back to your vehicle, and you will need to have a good way to carry it all.

I think I'm going to go back to shooting a 308 for sac valley club matches.
You get to shoot on first relay where the wind is easier than when you shoot on 2nd relay with the lasers.
The lasers don't really gain you anything when you realize that you always have to shoot them in the wind compared to the 308 guys shooting in calm conditions.
I'll take dialing elevation over holding wind every time...

Lol. I don't think it was on purpose. Its just the way the cards came up.

Was it just random assignment before? Is this the first year lumping the good shooters together? In past years it has seemed pretty random, just by last name. If that was the case, its no wonder I was in the same spot both times. Its just alphabetical, not malicious.

What I bascially do in the AM is lump shooters by location and put in order by last name and randomly just place the squads on relays.

This year we squaded all the top shooters (yourself included) in one relay. You will be shooting with guys like George Gardner, D LO, Francis, Marc, Greg, Team Blaster, so on and so on. I went back to all the TBRCs and looked at who consistantly finished up top and put those guys on a squad.

The other squads are based on location.

There will be Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta squads. 15 per.

Since we have people that bitch they always shoot first or last...this year we are going in reverse order. Brad Bolves gets to watch all you guys shoot first....Randall will be one of the first few shooters do to his last name starting with an R and the fact I just like to fuk with him =)

Awesome. Truth be told, getting to shoot with top shooters kind of shows you where you are on the totem pole. That and you can learn quite a bit from watching the top dogs and how they approach certain stages...and they're typically great guys to hang with.

+1. :)

At big 3gun matches where you can walk the stages on thursday, I usually follow some of the supersquad guys around when they are walking the stages.
They will tell you their stage methodology if you just hang out with them.

So what are everyone's plans for the match then? Hotel situation, leave day and time, and are we renting a van or are we on our own for driving?? BTW my toy trailer has a/c, fridge, stove, toilet and shower if we wanted to take that route. Just need an outlet to plug it in or we have to run the generator for the a/c whenever you want it on. Sleeps 4 comfy or up to 6 if you wanna get close to your buddies.

Dibs!

After a hot dusty day on the range, a shower and some AC is worth a lot.

Otherwise, we normally stay at the Vagabond Inn and its usually about 40 a night. We try to carpool as well.

Just going to be an ice chest and sleeping bag in the back of the truck for me. Maybe a small gas grill since hot water and food is always nice.

2nd dibs with Dirt! I like fancy.
