TBRC Lessons Learned, Tricks & Tips

Post by robert hode »

Could some of our guys who went to the TBRC (and all of them kicked some ass!), share the course of fire, tricks and tips, lessons learned, etc. For those of us who were not there?

Thanks

Hit your cold bore
shoot all five dots
use all your time and make clean shots
don't get greedy
shoot a Randall rifle
don't wake grandpa after 10
don't forget to dial your DOPE
Trust the bullet, if it says don't hold then dont hold
drink more so you don't over think the shot
get over bad shots and stages quickly
take the rifle if you win

and don't fuck up

Shoot fast.
Don't miss.
Don't shoot white guys.

I don't do any of those things.

Listen to Charlie. He has it down.

Drink a bunch so you sleep like a log.

And don't fuck up. Don't fuck up. And don't fuck up.

It worked for me!

Sorry, the most important piece of advice I can give is...

Shoot a Rausch built rifle. :)

Does anyone else wish it was still a week ago? My weekend feels so boring right now. Even sushi and sake bombs aren't doing it right now.

Ok...so if I understand, what you're saying is...If I practice drinking in the back of a car I will be able to quickly not shoot white guys , then I can go out to eat sushi...as long as I don't fuck up.
This is going to be fun!

 Drinking and driving is bad. Evryone knows you drink and THEN get in the car! Proceed to the side prone position all while yelling "break yo self foo".

There was seriously to many stages to list for you and some are way to complex to write out. Obviously a bunch of stages were similar to what we do at the CaPRC matches. We shot one full day on the paper range at distances from 200-1000. Another day was shot on the steel range at distances from 100-550yds. The stages themselves weren't the hard part. It was that they don't give you much time to think it through or ask questions. The pace is fast and its very easy to get stressed out and kill your game. I'd say we damn near shot almost 30 stages the whole weekend or it seemed like it at least.

Like James said, it would take some serious time to list all the COFs. Suffice to say, if you didn't have your dope down, or didn't know how to manipulate your dope for different zeros and hold accordingly, then you would have had problems. And you need to do it fast.

I used to run out of time on COFs.. now I almost never do :) I mean heck.. they gave us 99 seconds for a 22 second stage!

Plan all you want. As soon as that buzzer goes off, things change.
The buzzer is the great mind eraser.
Once your mind is blank, you revert to muscle memory.

Nobody loged the COF in their log books??? How do you keep track of your D.O.P.E. if you aren't keeping an accurate log?
This is not about land or money...but the one thing that no man should never be able to take from another man: the freedom to make his own choices about his life, where he'll live, how he'll live, how he'll raise his family

Seriously man, I could tell you the COF but I'd rather save my fingers from all the typing. There is THAT much to tell you! Its a better conversation for a camp fire or over a few beers.
Summary-
Shoot from cars.
Shoot from dog houses.
Shoot from barricades.
Shoot from every posistion.
Don't shoot white guys.
Don't fuck up.
You don't have shit for time to prep for the stage.
You don't have shit for time to clear your mind before the next stage.

Hows that?

What does COF have to due with DOPE? you just need speed, DA, distance and wind.

I sent the bipod back to Accu-Shot and they installed the latest upgrade to my bipod.
The new locking system is rock solid and gives you one extra leg position, 45deg rearward.
I will try to shoot the next CAPRC shoot with it, if I can.

Brad- What failed on the Atlas? Did the metal slots give way or the legs themselves?

The notches.
The new style has steel notches and pushbuttons to unlock the legs.
