AZ LRPRS August Match
Next monthly match for AZ LRPRS will be at Phoenix Rod & Gun Club on August 20th. Rounds go downrange at 0700. Match fees are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. 50 rounds will cover the COF. MD this month is Tim3gun so if you have questions about the COF, please direct them at him. Make sure to bring plenty of water. It's still pretty hot out but we've added some humidity in an attempt to make it more pleasurable.

Steven, We are talking about it. I won't be able to leave until afterwork on Friday night so we are thinking of just driving thru and catching some sleep before the match.Gnzrme wrote:Gina were'nt your matches the same w/e as Kurts? You're probably thinking of Brad (AZPRC) Peck's match. That's the one up in Prescott. Ours is at the range in Phoenix where we host TPRC every year. Ours are always the 3rd Saturday of the month now. When Brad has a match, it's on the 1st Sunday of the month.Gnzrme wrote:Gina were'nt your matches the same w/e as Kurts? I will just be returning from an east coast trip.... Randall/Keith, you going?

Re: AZ LRPRS August Match
So I have gotten the green light to go... I am looking at flying vs driving as I would have to rent a car anyway since my a/c sucks in my car.. I can get a round trip airfare into Phoenix on Southwest for 126.00.. Rental car with gas would be more, so it looks like I am going to be flying. Never have flown with a rifle/gun before. Obviously cannot bring ammo onto the plane, so that has to be checked too. Is there a limit to the amount of guns I can check. Was thinking of bringing a pistol too. So 1 rifle/1 handgun with ammo for each maybe 100 rounds each. Are there extra fees? Has anyone traveled with guns on Southwest? Randall, what was the hotel that we stayed in for TPRC... it was ok there other than the hot water.... Or Regina, recommendations for cheap/clean places to stay?

Just and FYI, you will not need a pistol for our match.

I had fun on that pistol stage last year.
I should have taken the bet...

I don't do any of those things.

Not sure about hotels near the range. There should be a bunch close to I10 and Baseline though that are in an area that's not too sketchy. Or if you search hotels.com by hotels near Arizona Mills Mall, there are a ton. It's about 8 miles from the range and a pretty straight shot over.Gnzrme wrote: Or Regina, recommendations for cheap/clean places to stay?

You'll have to get with one of us prior to heading down there. Tim's off that day and said it wouldn't be a problem, but you'd have to be with a member.Gnzrme wrote:will the range be open Friday to zero for a non member?

Great showing at today's match! Big thanks to all the SoCal boys who made the drive out. We enjoyed having you on the line this morning. Sorry about the heat. Tim and Scott were nice enough to turn on the fans (aka what little wind we get in Phoenix) for the 2nd relay. Hope to see some of you again!
Winner of the match with about a 63% hit ratio was Matt.

Had a great time and a challenging match. Mirage and the Wind really became a factor at the 500yd line during the 2nd relay. I was too busy wiping the sweat from my eyes to notice the wind shifts..... I'll have to keep that in mind because...... I'll be back!
PS~ The trip back with Kurtis and Nathan eating two days of Mexican food....... I would prefer to be water boarded...........
In the face of a crisis, a failure to act is the first act of failure.

Come to find out that Nathan is lactose intolerant and he ate 1 or 2 slices of the "Mexican Cheese Pizza" and his lunch plate also had cheese on it... I knew that was not going to bode well for you guys.....
