Burbank Rifle & Revolver Club...

Post by evo »

I'm sure there are a few members on here, I like the idea of a private range I can go to whenever I like. The photos from the rimfire match looked very nice and lush too.
Can any members here give me the real scoop on the club? What do you like and dislike about the place? Is there steel or something else at 1000Y? The photo on the site seems to imply there is? Thanks.

I'm not a member, but its an awesome range for rifles. Target pits at 200, 300, and 600 and steel at most of those ranges plus 1000. Small 100 yard range off to the side, and I believe some pistol bays off to the side.

Be sure to ask about what you will have access to if you join because most clubs with pits will not give members access to the pit equipment.
It's usually a select few that can actually pull the backer boards out and set them up anytime they want.

As long as you understand what membership really gets you access to and you are ok with that, go for it.
It's a neat location nestled into a quiet little canyon that's pretty easy to get to off the 5fwy just before you climb the grapevine.

From their website:
"Benefits of Membership

The primary benefit of membership is unlimited access to a private range facility where you can hone your skills, perform load development, train and supervise your family and engage in other shooting related activities on a safely designed range with measured target distances.

An additional benefit of membership is the ongoing opportunity to participate in organized shooting events specifically designed for formal highpower competition in the company of peers on the same firing line ranging in skill from beginners to distinguished masters and olympic candidates.

The final benefit of membership is the opportunity for your friends and family to enjoy a rustic property whose natural beauty rivals the sports activity conducted at the facility."

FYI, their pits are the old ones from the old San Gabrial Valley Gun range in fish canyon, they got them when they closed.

It says you get access to the range.
That does NOT say you get access to the target backers.

I'm assuming this means I wouldn't be able to put up my own targets at those ranges unless I had access to the backers correct? Or might there be some sort of provision for using a regular target frame instead?

Randall is correct. I am a member of the Desert Marksman RIfle Club and they have pits and only a select few people have acess to the shed that has the backers.....

Of course, nothing is stoping you from making your own 6x6 backer with your targets stapled to it....usually one target frame pulley system is left unlocked....

So, it might be the same at the BPRC....will find out on the 20th....

your welcome to come out and check it out, we do have a couple of connex boxes that have equipment that we use for the competitions, only the match directors have access the them but the target carriers in the pits do have special inserts in them that allow any member to staple in a standard highpower paper target or if you have a piece of cardboard about 2x2 you can use any paper target you wish, the berms at 200-300-600 and 1000 all have steel placed for the members to shoot at all the time, you can also bring your own steel if you wish, we also have a 100 yard range separate from the main range three pistol bays and a shotgun range, club members have the cobo to the gate and can come anytime but occasionally the forest service will close the range when they are working down in the canyon, you can get on the yahoo group to keep up on the club events by contacting Dennis Santiago at dsantiago@brrc.org there is a membership page you can get to from the club site http://www.brrc.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
