Loading the Bipod

So I'm still trying to piece together proper technique when I shoot. I don't think I've been "loading the bipod". I think I've been putting more of a rearward pressure to pull the rifle into my shoulder. However after watching the more experienced shooters at the match, it seems like its more of a leaning into the rifle stock. Am I getting closer? I've been trying to practice that in my living room and it may be my hardwood floors, but the bipod just seems to slip forward. So how much forward pressure do I need to be putting? Also, if I "load the bipod", will that help me stay on target? Because at the match, my muzzle would be all over the place after every shot. HELP!

Thanks Jose. Those were perfect explanations. Now I gotta give it a try. The weather has been so nice, I think I might duck out early tomorrow and head up to Angeles in the afternoon.

So loading the bipod definitely helps stay on target. I wish the bipod had flat feet. It was hard to maintain the forward pressure. Has anyone used the MOUT rubber footing by Phoenix? Is it worth the money? Ok, so here is how my progress is going.

This is my first group with my Remington 700.



Here is my best group from today. Obviously I need to perfect my zero, but there was such a strong head wind today I just couldn't get it dialed in right. I think loading the bipod helped a lot. Took out a lot of unnecessary moving and re-aiming between shots.
