TBRC 2010 So-Cal Squad

Post by AR15barrels »

So as best I can tell, the following so-cal guys are going up to the TBRC:

Ryan
Randall
Brad
Jason
Charlie
James
Joe H

Is there anyone else from so-cal that I missed?

Charlie has bee so kind to offer up his brother's place again so we have a place to sleep, shower and party.
The lone ranger usually drives alone, but the rest of us can carpool it as before.
The plan is to leave from Brad's place in Reseda around 6:30am friday morning.
The van will stop in Bakersfield around 8:15am to pickup the riverside/palmdale/tehachapi crowd.
That gets us into Sac around 3:00pm to check-in for the match.
God shoots a Remington 700, drives a Chevy Truck and carries a Glock 19.
I don't do any of those things.

Who is the lone ranger?

By saying van does that mean were renting one?

Charlie's bro has room for all of us or do I need to book a room?

What sorta things do I need to purchase before the trip shooting wise for a big match that I may not already have because we haven't needed them at our little matches? Mag pouches? Knee/elbow pads?

I am going to drive out in my jeep & camp out at the range. Does anyone know if we're allowed to camp out there(by "camp" I mean sleeping in my car)??

Not a hundred % on getting a hotel room yet.

Brad has a van that will fit all of us (minus the lone ranger). Charlies brothers place will fit us all he said. If James wants to meet Joe in Lancaster, then cruise up to Tehachapi, we can then all drive down to Bakersfield to meet them with the van.

The Lone Ranger is tempted by cheap room/board and a van ride! Hot shower is sounding good already. Still have room at the moment?

Joe: You're allowed to camp out there in your car. No tents because of snakes though.

USMC boys are pulling up a trailer and a few of my guys are staying at the range as well.

You'll have some good company.

See what happens when you turn down all those invites to carpool?
There's probably room if you want to party with us at Charlie's brothers, but the van is full.

Read through the recommended equipment list that Vu sends out with your registration info.
The kneepads would be recommended for friday and saturday nights.
You might even use them for the match too.

I will order more later... I just wanted to make sure the TBRC shooters had shirts and I don't have much time as I am out of town - Tuesday.

I will do a big order in June with two colors and S/L sleeves.

I'll try but im pretty sure my brain is going to be fried from the stress everybody's been telling me about

My camera lives in my pack now so it will be there for sure. I never take it out except to charge it or upload pics.

Practice this for the next week:

Grab your gear and your rifle.
Walk out into the back yard.
Pick something across the yard that you can aim at and dry fire.
Set a simple kitchen timer for 60 seconds.
Start the timer and get down into prone.
Deploy the bipod, get out your rear bag, dope card, ammo/mags and go through the motions of getting on target before the 60 seconds is up.
Start the timer again and dry fire/run the bolt for 60 seconds. (you might even make yourself 10 dummy cartridges with no primer/powder so you can load mags and cycle the dummies through the gun. Only load 5 cartridges per mag so you can practice reloads too.)
Pack everything up and move somewhere else in the yard and repeat.
Do this in different areas so that the bipod settings are different each time.
Do this for 20 minutes each evening and you will be ready for next weekend.
Adjust how you put your gear into the pack to make it the most convienent to setup, shoot and move quickly.
The more commonly you use something, the higher in the pack it should be.
The less you use it, the more buried it should be.
God shoots a Remington 700, drives a Chevy Truck and carries a Glock 19.
I don't do any of those things.

Shirts looks awesome. Long sleeves are the way to go when you'll be out in the sun for 20+ hours and rubbing up against ground/dirt/cement.

Besides.. we have enough T-shirts i'm sure.

I was talking to Brad about rolling out of his place no later than 7am on friday.
Pick up Ryan, Joe & James in Bakersfield at 9am.
I figure that Brad drives like a madman, but we always stop for lunch somewhere too.
That gets us to the range to check-in, chrono and zero around 2:30pm or so.

If the lone ranger joins us at your brother's place, that makes 7.

Guys, Please bring your own bags, pillows, and air-beds if you want them. My brother does have a big lab so you must like dogs or just deal with it.
