CAPRC Marksmanship Clinic C 5-1-16

Post by AR15barrels »

Come on out and join us at Angeles for our positional clinic on Sunday May 1st.
We will start out with checking your 100yd zero.
We will teach the traditional seated, kneeling and prone positions including proper sling usage.
Then we will work on improvised shooting positions such as shooting from barricades, rooftops and other various props.
Experienced club members will be on hand to help new shooters.
Costs are $75 for non members or $50 for club members.
Cold drinks and BBQ will be provided as part of the entry/range fee for the day.

This clinic will be held at the Fort Angeles range which is just west of the main rifle line at the Angeles Ranges.
Please show up before 8:15am to get signed in.

Some things to bring:
Precision rifle, sling, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 60 rounds of match quality ammo, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad to take notes, pencil or pen and a backpack or bag to shoot over.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.

This is a Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting tight groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
Please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero.
If you need help with this, we can do it at the shoot, but it takes time that is better spent putting rounds on targets.

Tentative schedule as follows:
8:00 Sign-in at Fort Angeles Range
8:15 Safety briefing
8:30 Instruction and open practice
12:00 Break down and store props
12:30 BBQ lunch

We will limit this shoot to 20 people so we can finish up by 12 noon.
Please RSVP in this thread if you plan to attend.
Member RSVPs will be accepted after 2pm on 4/7/16.
Non-Member RSVPs will be accepted after 2pm on 4/14/16

When you RSVP please post something very definite in this thread such as "I will be there".

The following people will coach and run the line:

1 autoessentials
2 Treadstone
3 Robojet
4 oni
5 postal
6 AR15barrels
7 Snappy

The following people are on the schedule as shooters:

1 DspPhotos
2 TKCastle
3 truetothebrew
4 evorider
5 jmasterman
6 Freds951
7 LightsOut
God shoots a Remington 700, drives a Chevy Truck and carries a Glock 19.
I don't do any of those things.

More people from clinic B really need to sign up for this..... we cover a lot of important hints and tricks for traditional positions and all kinds of make shift/props that will whoop your butt at a match if you don't know how to do it.....

Sling? I understand from a few others in the last two clinics that the sling from SAP would be a good one for this C clinic. If the guys are going to be at the clinic next week - can I order one online from your site and be sure to get it from you at the clinic next week?

Thanks,
Jason M

Yes Jason,
if you order by Tuesday end of the day, you will be guaranteed to get it before the clinic. I will try to bring some as well with me as well.

Thanks everyone for another great class. I really got a lot out of the individual instructions. Positional shooting is not easy at all! More physically demanding then I thought. It is hard to hit the target when everything is moving but it sure was fun trying.
