Practice Day 01/10/16
It is time for the first practice day of the year. Sunday January 10th. Come on out to work on your skills. Solidify your DOPE. Try some drills under the clock. It will be held at the far end of the rifle line at the normal spot that we have our matches. We will get there starting at 7:30. We will wrap it up by 11:30 to put away any gear and then we will all grab lunch. Cost for the range fees and lunch included will be $20. Please post up "I am in" if you are planning on joining us.

Is this practice open to anyone or members only? I'm very new to this, and looking forward to your training classes this year.
So, now would be as good a time as any to start.

All can come. This is an open practice. If you are new, I recommend coming before the line goes hot at 7:45 or so.

I have an extra scope if you just want to strap it on for the day. Would take you 5 minutes to zero it.ACIDKOOL wrote:Dang the scope I ordered is still on back orderI'll have to wait for the next practice day.

In to shoot.
I changed scope rings and put the Gen II Little Bastard on...so hopefully I can get to the range beforehand to get a 100Y zero but that might not happen.

Nathan or Rich ....if you are coming please bring me a Run 'N Gun bag. I'd prefere ATACS FG and then Multicam and then Coyote. If you have them in several colors and don't mind bring 'em all I'll pick one. Mostly sure it will be ATACS-FG.
Thanks. I'll post this at the practice thread in case you miss the PM.
EDIT: Can't tell if my other shit is ATACS FG or AU. I'll bring a mag pouch off my plate carrier to match it. It's not as bright green as I have seen some FG and definitely not as brown as AU. Please bring both if you have. Thx.

No pistols on rifle side as far as I know. Re: 6 creed barrel life I'm exactly 1612 rounds through the barrel, starting at 3175 fps and slowed down to 3150 fps and have chased the lands a long way. Bore is rough like my 243 when it quit shooting.

Sorry Fumbles! I no longer live there. Rich does have some inventory available. If he does not have your color we can still get you taken care of. Just let him know.

Re: Practice Day 01/10/16
Yeah today was good stuff.
I learned a lot, mostly about reloading ....with Henry S really explaining some stuff...thanks for that, it all made sense. On your recommendation Henry, I went down to the reloading store and picked up an RCBS collet bullet puller and 6.5 collet, as well as a weight test set.
As far as the day, I did not shoot as much as most others......I would have liked to but due to pressure signs with my first batch of 6.5 hand loads.... including a primer that blew out.... I passed on shooting any more of it. This is the first time in a few years of reloading I've had to bag a whole batch of rounds. Luckily I had 40 rounds of 140gr and 40 rounds of 120r....shot out the 140gr and a couple mags worth of the 120gr so it was enough to keep me happy.
Today the trajectory numbers in Ballistics AE were dead on. The last 2 times I at ASR I was striking low at 400Y, 500Y and 600Y. Just a tickle at 400, much more noticeable at 600. Using the same input data today.....only the temperature was a tiny bit warmer than the last time I shot and DA was about the same......... the trajectory calculation results were just a tiny bit different. But I shot a couple mags worth going from 200 through 600 and did not miss a one......even the small swingers at 500, not a problem. I noticed a lot of swinging steels were broken. Someone with a big bore must have taken them out.
The only change to the rifle has been the removal of the Surefire SOCOM brake to put on the APA Gen II Little Bastard. So I'm going to assume the new brake made a difference for the better in my POA/POI. Happy with it so far.
Thanks Rich for handling the day and for bringing in my ATACS-AU Run 'N Gun bag. I really like it. With the RPR buttstock I never could consistently get enough out of the other two small bags I bought from you guys. They are great and I'm glad I have them.....but the RNG is really cool.
Lastly, it was great to see everyone again and to meet some new faces ( for me ) and in some cases putting a face to a forum screen name. I'm glad I went to the lunch, I almost blew it off as I wanted to shoot my, new to me, 87 yr old Remington Mod 34 bolt action that I hadn't shot yet, since I got it a month ago. Rather than spend a bunch of time on it though, I shot a few tubes worth to satisfy myself everything was working and boogied down to the pizza joint.....and it was a good move...I had fun.
Thanks again.
