older 02 BMW, no leak that I've seen, burns through radiator fluid like its nobodies business, I have to add fluid pretty much once a week. Check engine lights been on, plugged in my OBD, several trouble codes, but haven't been able to troubleshoot it accurately yet. car hasn't overheated... yet... started happening after that one trip to ASR.Point of Impact wrote:What kind of car?

Coolant consumption with no external leak..... A very educated guess would be a blown head gasketnevertipsy wrote:

Does it misfire or idle roughly, especially on startup?Point of Impact wrote:

Re: ASR 9/7
A weeping head gasket would be a possible cause, but you would probably notice "smoke/steam" during morning startup.nevertipsy wrote:

Another possible cause is the radiator, waterpump, coolant reservoir & reservoir cap are all plastic. After a few years, the plastic develops micro-cracks that are not evident but under heat and pressure will allow small amount of steam through. That might be your mystery leak.

My obd says it has had a misfire. I don't feel it running any rougher than usual. I will look up a blown head gasket when I get home, I appreciate the advice!6079Winston wrote:

If it's burning through that much coolant, you should be able to see the white smoke. Head gasket also gets my vote.

Not always. I had a truck with a bad headgasket. Only signs were dissapearing coolant and tendancey to want to overheat. No milky oil. No steam from exhaust. No rough idle.Downrange67 wrote:

Re: ASR 9/7
I apologize if I'm out of line in asking this, but...
How many people are planning to come out? It'd be great if we have the numbers for the club rate, if we all plan on getting there before the line goes hot in the morning.
So far it looks like we have confirmed:
Me
Kevin
Ben
Henry G
Henry S
Danny
Samson
Jennifer
Jeff
solomon
maybe:
Steven -not enough workers, Steven is out =(
Anyone else want to come out? All are welcome!

Re: ASR 9/7
Updated the list, we have 10 people at least. man are we gonna take up a lot of space haha.
Everyone please try to get there by no later than 7:45. I printed up the waiver already, but someone else may want to print/bring one just in case. http://www.caprc.com/targets/waiver.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Car update: had to take it to an mechanic since I couldn't find the leak. They did a pressure test a bunch of times (40 mins+). They found a micro-fracture on the underside of my radiator hose, could not be seen with the naked eye unless you knew where it was. Hopefully that's all...
Edited: Get there early! I have the farthest commute!

Better be there earlier if you guys want to shoot together. I'd say show up no later than 7:30. Don't make us early risers be "those guys" hogging up all the benches

If someone wants to go to the range tonight at 6pm when they close, you can tape off the last 6 benches so they will be reserved in the morning.Point of Impact wrote:Better be there earlier if you guys want to shoot together. The yellow caution tape is in the ASR office by where you return target stands.
