TBRC Info 10 days out.
Dear competitors,
The 2014 NorCal TBRC is only a little more than 30 days away!!!
I have been getting numerous emails and calls about the event so hopefully this email will get us all on the same page.
Round count for the match itself: 185
(Does not include what you need to zero and if you are going to gather dope on the 1K range)
It would probably be wise to bring a few extra rounds just in case of a reshoot of a stage.
If you need to ship your ammo, DO NOT wait till the last minute to do so. Things will be crazy the week before the match and I will not be able to wait for any UPS packages. If you need to ship ammo, please contact me at vu@ncpprc.com.
Friday – May 30th – Mandatory Check In and Zero
Check in and 100yard range will open from 0900 to 1500 (for those not shooting on the 1K on Friday)
Friday – May 30th – Open Range Day (gather dope from 425yd, 500yd, 600yd, 800yd, 900yd, and 1000yd)
0730 – 0900 – Check in and 100yd Zero (Range goes hot at 0800 to confirm your zero)
0900 – 930 – Split into two squads and head to 1K Range.
0930 – 1100 – Alpha Squad shoots from 200 to 1K (Bravo pulls pits)
1100 to 1230 – Bravo Squad shoots from 200 to 1K (Alpha pulls pits)
If you are not here and ready to go by 0900, you will not be able to participate in the open range session.
I have arranged group rates at the Hyatt Place in Rancho Cordova for those of you needing a hotel. Rooms are 80.00 per night and are actually pretty nice from what I hear. Stay away from the Red Roof Inn if possible.
http://www.sacramentoranchocordova.plac ... _id=G-TBRC" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Match Format:
We will have 4 squads of 20 shooters shooting a total of 4 evolutions.
• Steel Range (Reactive steel out to 550yds)
• Long Range (we will only be shooting 800, 900, and 1000 this year. You will be pulling pits) There is no worry about 1st relay or 2nd relay wind conditions because everyone will be shooting this evolution in the afternoon where the wind is blowing for all.
• Run & Gun (200ish yard movement in 4 minutes)
• Short Range (Paper and some steel inside 200yds)
Two squads will spend the entire day on the Steel Range evolution while the other 2 squads spend their day on the Run & Gun, Short Range, and Long Range evolutions. We will flip flop on day two.
Saturday – May 31st
0700 – 0730 Shooters Meeting (Don’t be late!)
0800 – First rounds go down range. All COFs should be done by 1500hr
1530 – We will be having BBQ Ribs and whole lot of other good stuff.
Sunday – June 1st
0700 – 0730 Shooters Meeting
0800 – First rounds go down range. All COFs should be done by 1500hr
1500 – 1600 – Final scoring and all you can eat tacos buffet.
1600 – 1700 – Award Ceremony
Other things:
Our gracious sponsors have lined up 2 to 3 side matches for everyone on Friday! Details will be released over the next 30 days via our Facebook page and online forums. Bring about 10 rounds of ammo if you would like to participate in these events.
For those that plan to stick around on Friday for the side matches, we will be providing lunch once the open range session is completed
We will be providing simple snacks and all the hydration you need on match days to help keep everyone motivated throughout the day.
Our COF this year will be fun and challenging, but I am expecting our top competitors to finish in the high 70% to low 80% range.
If you have any further questions please feel free to call me after 6pm PST @ 916-320-3700 or contact via this email.
Thanks,
Vu Pham

Re: TBRC Info 30 days out.
Over the last several years, the popularity of tactical/practical long range precision shooting has grown exponentially. Along with this popularity, the number of matches and requests for sponsorship for these events has increased.
Our club understands and appreciates that there is a finite amount in our sponsors' budget to support these type of events. We are humbled and truly honored they have decided to sponsor our event this year.

Nope, no top Asian this year. Not enough of them pulling the trigger. LOL
Hey, can someone tell Downrange67 to get in touch with me. It may be his lucky day since he was planning on rolling up here with you guys anyways.

Re: TBRC Info 10 days out.
Danny, Keith and I were on the short and long range evolutions today on Bravo squad. Started with a 200yd cold bore. Then Stage 1 Arizona Hostages, hit the white dot on the head of the bad guys. I hit a couple hostages... Stage 2 100yd mover, I tried to trap it, found that you have to track because even at about 2-3mph, trapping a 3" shootnc doesn't work. Then 150yd pick your dots, the mirage was bad, I think I got them all but not 100% sure. Stage 4 200yd mover, same speed but larger shootnc. I tracked these and hit it once I think. Stage 5 dueling spinners, I didn't spin it so zeroed. Missed twice...
Then run and gun, up to 12 shots at various targets and ranges. 7 hits, ran out of time. I took way too long getting set up a couple times, and writing down the targets of opportunity. Danny did good, but on Keith and I's advice didn't memorize all the targets of opportunity so had extra time at the end, nearly 57 seconds if I remember right.
Then off to the long range evolution, 800, 900 and 1000. Each range has 5 strings, each of 3 shots. We shot second string, so spent a while in the pits. Luckily it seems, we were in the shade in the pits but it looked like as we were leaving that the shade would be gone and the guys in the pits would have to sit in the sun. 800 and 900 I did all right I think. 1000, the wind started swirling and shifting and I kept chasing shots. Group size depended a lot on how fast you'd shoot, taking 10 seconds per shot would make the group really big because the wind is constantly changing. Of course with the shifty winds the groups would slide one way or another and not necessarily be on the target.
Nathan was on a different squad but DQ'd somehow, I'm told on the rooftop. Solomon is on another squad and doesn't have any socal boys with his squad. James looks like got the smallest 3 shot group on one of the Friday side matches, and might be closest to center on the swinging platform on another side match. 3rd sidematch was smallest 3 shot group at 550yd, winner was .8" My first two shots were at 1" but 3rd swung out to 3.9" if I remember right.

Awesome performance gentlemen. I tip my hat to you.

Re: TBRC Info 10 days out.
I just want to say I had such a great time shooting this match. It was great to hangout with SoCal guys outside our regular monthlies. We had lots of stories and laughs. Hopefully we can do this more often so we have plenty of stories to tell when we're all shooting bench rest. I'm sure we will be talking about the "Double Dutch Rudder" for quite sometime.
As for the match, I was a little hesitant starting out because I got assigned to Delta squad which only had one other SoCal shooter (Mike [AKA the "Whisperer"]) out of 20 guys. From the get go I felt like the outsider. Everyone seemed to know each other. I kept my cool by telling myself I would definitely get "Top Asian" in my squad. As the match progressed I started to loosen up and started socializing. By Sunday it felt like I had known these guys for quite some time. Everyone was so friendly.
Vu - I didn't get to personally thank you because you were so busy. Thank you for putting together a great match. You guys have a wonderful facility. Your staff was professional and very helpful. Everything from running the COF to shuttling shooters to their next stage ran like a well oiled machine. The food, gifts, and prize table were all top notch. I now have a new favorite sweater!
Once again, thank you Sir!
Solomon.

Re: TBRC Info 10 days out.
First and foremost, I’d like to thank Vu Pham, all the people from NCPPRC and the sponsors for putting on an awesome match. Well planned, coordinated and executed. They were professional, organized, courteous and you can tell that they put their heart into every detail (not to mention they kept us hydrated with cold drinks the entire time, snacks and fully catered lunches all three days). They have a beautiful range with everything you could ever ask for; long range, short range, steel, movers (paper and steel), shotgun, pistol and probably more that I didn’t see. Not to mention some really unpredictable wind that will completely demoralize you.
Big ups to James, Solomon and Rich C. for finishing in the top 25. This was not an easy course of fire (I was having some delusions of grandeur prior to starting). There were plenty of movers, barricades, wind and negative points to be earned. The rest of us were struggling a bit this weekend with this, that or the other. But, we learned a lot, bonded some more and made new friends.

I specifically told them "keys are on the console, I don't care who drives it, just don't let Nathan drive it" who comes pulling up? Mr ND himself!! I was % 100 sure he wasn't gonna be able to reach the brakes and slam in to something.Gnzrme wrote:How did Nathan reach the petals.....?
