In that case, Waxers-wifey would like to sign up as a shooter on the 2nd squad so we can rotate using my rifle.

Thanks

Had a great time shooting and putting faces together with names finally. Learned a lot, and have a lot more to work on. Prone shooting is harder than it looks but some of you guys definitely made it look easy. Hope to see most of you again at B, and hopefully I won't blow another tire on the way to B again... :D

I wanted to give a special thanks to Charlie and all the instructors that helped make today possible. I feel like I've accomplished more at this clinic than all of my solo plinking sessions combined.

Also special thanks to the chef for preparing much needed grub, I was so happy to see food!

Guys, I always enjoy coming to the clinics and I always love to see peoples faces as they start to put together all the things that we are teaching...

Things to do to prepare for B Clinic... Learn your scope... By now, you should have a solid 100 yard zero... Go to the range atleast 1 more time before the clinic preferably at Angeles and go up on the 100 yard line and re-confirm your zero... Spend at least 10X's the amount of shooting that you plan to do in dry firing... I do not do this enough myself but its free, easy to do and it really helps.

Get good ammo... There were several people that were having issues that we cannot narrow down to one issue if you are shooting less than par ammo. The gold standard is Federal Gold Match Medal... Its expensive for a reason, but it works... I guess Black Hills works, but FGMM is best or use good quality reloads. You will want to shoot a HPBT bullet, not ball ammo, not surplus but MATCH AMMO. In 308, the standard is 175gr Sierra.

Try to replace your scope if you can if you were having issues... I saw atleast one scope that started having issues by the end of the day...

Learn you equipment... Know what reticle your scope has and what the reticle is calibrated in... Either in MOA's or Mils... This is critical. You are going to be spotting for your partner and will call corrections based upon what you see in your reticle... You will say "your hitting 1 MOA high and 2 MOA's left or what every it is.... Do not call out clicks or inches or scoches or pubic hairs or other vague measurements... This is PRECISION RIFLE... We call corrections in either Mils or MOA's....

Everybody has a cell/smart phone.... Invest in either Ballistic FTE for IPhones or Shooter for Droids... Its worth it and you will use it all the time...Come to the clinic with Dope for your ammo that you will be using out to 600 yards... This will save you time at the clinic trying to do this.

We will reconfirm zero's at the start of Clinic B. Try to bring your own tools to reset your zero so you do not have to wait for one wrench.

Read this link... http://www.caprc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=37" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Learn and understand this... Ask questions before hand, so that more time at the clinic will be spent shooting. We will go over this, but its better if you have a base understanding of it before hand...

Bring Pen/Paper to record hard dope... Write it down... We will bring a Chrono, but honestly, there are features in both FTE and Shooter that will figure out your speed based upon your hard dope...

Be prepared to shoot 100 rounds, but bringing more ammo is always better.

Read though the old posts on the forum from the previous Clinics. You will see most of the issues that you are going to have have already been experienced by these people and see the conversations that revolve around these issues...

HAVE FUN....

Thanks for the time and work to put on the clinic today. As nevertipsy put it, I learned more to improve my shooting today than all those solo range sessions. Now to practice the fundamentals till they are second nature. And kudos to the chef too!!!

The only ache I have is from accepting the offer to shoot the higher quality rifle next to me. Maybe it's more of an itch.
