Wow... what a day... I walked my ass off between stages and Mark the match director deliberately made you walk back and forth between 2 stages of fire instead of completing an area and moving on to the next.... did like a .5 mile trek back and forth 3x's.... Why... just to stress people...

It was cold but not to bad... 30's.. but once it started raining, the temp dropped like a rock and the wind was blowing 20-25 sustained and gusting over 30 a lot... Then came the fog completely obscuring the targets and we had to keep stoping waiting for it to blow through, all the while standing there waiting for your turn. After 3 hours of waiting we gave up and the last 2 groups will have to shoot that stage in the am tomorrow..

Night match was a 100 yard dot drill with randomly illuminating targets under a time pressure.... couple of people have dropped due to weather or pain from walking. Somehow I am still in it... it all ends tomorrow.. I will make it

Sure had a lot of fun, the difficult conditions hit everybody in different ways I think. Bro and I managed to take top civilian team, good job Julian! Saturday had about 5 minutes of just barely a little snow, and a lot of rain and wind and a little mud. I heard that three rifles went down due to trigger problems, at least one Jewell, one remington trigger, I don't know the last. Fog blowing in and back out. Good times, if it were easy it wouldn't be a contest. Seems to me that it averaged out, or even hit some relays pretty hard, I had a bad break on the 200 yard steel to 300/250yard steel and had the fog roll in after my second shot. Oh well.

Sunday was much nicer, slight wind early on, warm when the sun was out, cold when a cloud blocked the sun. Overall pretty nice weather. The wind calls for the last 550 yard shoot kept changing, I heard of right wind, then no wind, my relay had a left wind.

Anyway, thanks to Mark for getting the match going, I'm sure it was a struggle, Gunny Hughes for securing the prize table, and everybody who RO'd and scored, and ran around like a madman (Clynt) to keep things going.

Was a lot of fun. Really cold for a while with the rain and wind on Sat. The fog really screwed everyone up, and Mark and crew just had to deal with it the best they could.

Took 10th place. Thrilled about that!

I think only 6 people hit the 'hot bore' shot on a steel target at 550. Bro and I both hit it- One of San Diego's finest was watching through a spotting scope when Steven hit it- He said he hit it dead center... Everyone within ear shot going "whuuut?" :bg: :thumb:

Congrats to everyone- This is a match to remember.... Matches will seem easy and comfy compared to this beast!

Thanks Mark, Rich and all the others, for getting this together. It was a lot of fun.

That cold, wind and rain effected a lot of shooters at the match! In the end Mark said no more SCPRC in December! Looking back it was a blast, but to be honest having a nice warm hotel room at the end of the day was very nice!

I pIcked up a 16" DD upper off the prize table, which was very generous. Big thanks to them, US Optics, Bartlien, Vortex, US Tactical Supply, Hog Saddle and all the sponsors.

Steven,

Congratulations on hitting your last Hot Bore!

550yd popper shot from the supported seated position. I think the hit rate on that was around 20%

It was a pleasure shooting with you too Esteban.
Mark was right, hitting both my cold bores and the hot bore was huge. I was just feeling it on a few stages, I still can't believe I cleaned that barricade stage in the fog and rain on Sat. Mark shot video of the porthole stage I only dropped one on on Sun. morning. hopefully he'll post it.

With the new AO not being WEGC.

Just curious on how many shooters did ya'll have and what was the COF? I would love to have a spot where I have open land to go buck wild with COFs and dynamic stages.

Only 27 showed up this year- Probably because Dec and people figured it would be cold, though someone did come out from Connecticut... Musta felt like fall to him!

Due to the weather... IE FOG!!!! Some stages had to be adjusted to short range so people might actually see the steel. Mark and crew adapted and overcame for quite some time- until the fog was so bad we couldnt continue those stages Sat. So some squads shot those stages on Sun. Which of course threw off his Sunday schedule.....

I wonder how many COF's we were supposed to shoot, that had to be yanked for these bad weather reasons, and rescheduling.

We didnt shoot anywhere near as many rounds as planned. No one bitching about it though- Mark cant control the weather. Everyone just did their best in that foul weather.

As to actual COF's- I'll wait for Mark to post his report.

Henry, Congratulations on placing 2nd overall in this match after the scores were correctly recounted. Too bad they rushed the scoring and handed out trophies and had people pull prizes prematurely, before doing the usual 1 hour score contestation period.

You deserve the 2nd place trophy.

Also, Congrats to Evin and Esteban for being the Top Civilian team after the scores were recounted. You guys also deserve your trophies.

Yea, I'm a bit bummed about being bumped to 4th but with less than one shot difference between the top 3 places I still feel like I shot really well.

Thanks Mark for a truly challenging test of rifle craft under pressure. Ya, it was a skooch damp but I just consider it a worst case scenario for my rig and kit. Clearly I'll need to rethink my rig after experiencing several malfunctions from multiple causes, so I can genuinely thank you for that. Don't beat yourself up about having to juggle a few stages here and there, I don't recall any grumbling about it, after all, we're not supposed to know what's coming anyway. Again, thanks for a fun match (I can say that now that I'm back in my warm, dry home).
Well done, Henry and Steven and Evin, you lot are steely-eyed fire eaters.

OK, I'm a bit behind, I've been traveling this week. In nice cold upstate New York.

Talked with my bro, we'll take care of the trophies and pool money in short order, no biggie. Next thing for me is to figure out why my rig started shooting to the left. Me or the rifle...

The match was certainly a test of man and equipment to endure and perform under adverse conditions. I think I can state with confidence; if you and your equipment performed well on Saturday, then you and your equipment will perform just about anywhere. If you had issues, then those deficiencies were clearly revealed to be addressed for the future.

While I have no desire to repeat that experience, I'm glad to have the memories of shared hardship among like minded individuals. You cannot ask for more.

Some procedural shortcuts were taken, which in retrospect, should not have been taken, which resulted in some errors. All will be resolved in due time. Let that not detract from our enjoyment and sharing of our experiences.

No one wants to see the official results more than those that shot the match. Lets give Mark a little time. We all have lives and things going on this time of year that take precedence over this. Go spend some time with your family or finish off the Christmas shopping. The official results and AAR will be posted by the end of the week.
