Target Size

Post by robert hode »

I just wanted to confirm a formula I remember from somewhere.
To determine the size of a target at a known distance...multiply distance to target in yards, times the mils of object seen in scope, and then divide by 27.77 to get target size in inches?

Thanks

(size of target in inches) x 27.78
--------------------------------- = distance to target
size of target in mils

Then use algebra (I know its a lot to ask for a county employee) :)

(dist to target) x (size in mils)
--------------------------- = size of target
27.78

Thanks Ryan. I've seen both 27.77 & 27.78 used. Either seems more than close enough for government work.
Is algebra kinda like Rosetta Stone for math or somthin?
