Alright I'm in to shoot I'm getting off early Saturday night
And since this is my first competition I'll be the FNG and bring
the doughnuts. Judging by the other thread thats going on cream
filled sounds like it will be a popular choice.

The long drive from San Diego is always worth it. Looking forward to another great match. I have been shooting these matches for a year officially this match. I have learned a lot and it has been worth all the effort!

I'm shooting 168g for the match, and then after I need to zero for 175g so I'm ready for the D clinic, so I'll be hanging around for probably an hour after.

Thanks Randal and Brad for running another great match! Was surprised we finished before noon with 19 shooters but you ran a tight schedule!

This newbie learned: Always return your turret to zero-stop before the first stage! I was a full rev high for the first 3 stages! Last time I shot I was at 860 yards, and I only backed it down to 0, relative to where I was shooting. I was really scratching my head there for a bit. I made a lot of other mistakes but still had fun.

Also big thanks to Sol, Henry, and Nate for helping me recalibrate to 175g rounds afterwards. I think I'm dialed in for the D clinic now.

I ate shit today.

Hostages:

Image

I missed the cold bore, so I was -30 after two stages. Oh yeah.

300-yard pack prone:

Image

At least I didn't get negative.

Slung sitting:

Image

Yes, I shot the frame.

I scored lower today than I did in my first match.

But it beat sitting around at home. Thanks to Randall, Brad, and Rich for a great match.

Great match guys, thank you! It was cool to see some new faces on the line shooting this weekend. Congrats to the winner's circle and good job Henry for pulling 5th on your first match. You were in the company of a lot of the great shooters from the club (except for Solomon, he's kind of a candy ass) Ha!

If you dig that camera, you should get one. The Leica I have is the cheapo Digilux and not the real deal M8 or M9. Digiluxes on eBay go for around $600. Check out:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=le ... 2&_sacat=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's not dirt cheap but it's not high dollar either. I'd say it's about the price of a cheapie scope. You might even sell one of your cheapie scopes and then trade across for a Digilux.

My wife has a Nikon but it doesn't have style like a Leica . I like the retro look it has.

I think the money would be better spent taking some photography classes and getting a couple lenses for my wife's camera. Some if you guys have expensive taste. I'm just a red neck trying to have a good time.

The video shouldn't even be there. One should love a Leica for what it doesn't do as well as what it does.

Leica has basically made a scope with side focus, 36mm tube, parallax, giant locking turrets, super turbo knurling for when your hands are covered in blood, christmas tree reticle with 0.1 mil resolution and numbers, 39 mils of elevation, tactical tan coloration, blah, blah, blah. The bullet point list of features is a mile long. On paper, a scope like this looks impressive. But in reality, a scope like this is schlock flavor of the month rookie shit. Stuff like this never lasts.

The video mode is a cave to market pressures, I agree, but the files from this M are spectacular. The only thing the M9 seems to do better is tonal range, which is the only thing keeping me from upgrading (bedides price).

I have a BA in Photgraphy from Brooks, hence the expensive cameras, I'm a cameraman.
Santa Monica City college used to have a great photo program, been a while since I looked into it though.

I just want to be able to take decent shots of guns on a bench, some close ups of small parts and decent shots of matches. I'm not trying to do anything professional. Bet you have some great pics of the kids.

For tabletop and small part photography put the table next to a medium or large window without sun coming through, then find an angle where the light catches properly...
