Does shoot shit mean:
1. Shooting the shit ala shooting the breeze
2. Shooting inanimate targets
3. Shooting varmints
4. Shooting edible shit

All the above... In past years we could shoot a crap load of rabbits but these last two or so have been realy slow. Hopefully all the rain we had this past year has helped revive the population some. There is a canyon we perch up on that has an open shooting lane straight out to 1500+ yards at this spot as well.

I have three pieces of steel you can borrow, a 6 in popper,
and the two IPSC targets we used at the 5 and 6 hundred yard line during the night match.

The good thing about it is that's about the closest place to shoot rifles in open desert. Its right on the border of the shotgun zone. We used to see so many rabbits out there it was unreal.Fjold wrote:

The only reason were doing this instead of Liggett is so that it doesn't take up the whole weekend. Next time i have available time outside of the club to shoot shit and drink beer it will be at Liggett.buffybuster wrote:You guys better do this again...... after sports season.....
If everyones to busy to do a Liggett trip at a later date then i'm game for a simple overnighter like this again.

Do you have a 22 you can bring? If so, it gonna be your best bet. We used to us 1903 with 30-06 for rabbits but there never seemed to be much left of them afterwards.

Re: Camping Halloween Weekend
Have any of you ever seen the carnage of a 444marlin hitting a Jack Rabbit?
bring as many guns as you can. if you don't have a 22 then buy a couple bricks anyway. I've got a 22 pistol, 22 conversion for the ARs, and some other semi auto plinkers. We usually make a little night scenario range using some plates around a camp site. Its a ton of fun to be sitting in your chair at the camp fire shooting at plates on the other side of the fire down range.
One of our other priorities is to try and get a rabbit or two before night time. Chukar is also in season!! In the past we've run into Chukar up in the cliffs about 1in5 times we go. The common way to hunt them is to send a trained dog up top and flush them toward you. Our way involves the "one shot one kill" method and then sending a Pit Bull after them ;) he pulls wounded rabbits hiding in the bushes out for us. One time it was screaming in his mouth as we chased him around trying to get it from him LMAO!! It would be awesome to throw a Chukar and a Rabbit on the BBQ along with our steaks 8-)
We also need to pick up a few boxes of clays. In the past we have had a good time peppering the cliffs with them and walking back to the other side of the canyon to shoot at them with the bolt guns.
For those of you not familiar with Chukar-
Its almost the size of a chicken and they taste delicious
I think they call them Chukar because those bastard sound like they are laughing at you. They are smart birds..they are usually laughing because we are to dumb to get them half the time lol. Nothing a matchking wont handle

Won't be able to be there for Saturday. It's my cousin's wedding but I'll be there by 5am Sunday. I'll bring some coffee for you boys if you're interested. I'll probably get the big box of coffee from Starbucks or Coffee Bean. If a can get a head count, I'll know how many of those to bring.

Picked up some 12"x12" mild steel plates at the steel yard today. Should have plenty to shoot at around camp with 22 and CF pistols now we just need to get grandpas steel for the highpower stuff. Don't forget to get that stuff from grandpa. Need to get a shopping list going.
