Poor Eddie,
All he wanted to do was to inform you shooters about a match, look what happened. :D

I've seen that countersniper shit before, and it's definitely lame. But the way I see it, that's just what Nathan would call "marketing". It's some fucking cheap shit China slave labor scope that's being marketed to the airsoft and mall ninja morons who love to play soldier or policeman because of their gay man-love for men in uniform.

This one really chaps my hide:

Image

Seriously, what the fuck is this supposed to be? Look at this stupid shit:

Image

It reminds me of the guns you see in those lame movies like Terminator 23 or Zombie Apocalypse. The line of sight is like five inches above the bore. And it's packed with FEATURES. The design is MODULAR so that the OPERATOR can CONFIGURE the weapon to suit THE MISSION. It even has the gay fucking BUTT SPIKE. (Why would any sane man ever want to own anything called a "Butt Spike"?) The adults who never outgrew their childhood can play around with the gun lego all over the gun:

Image

Accuracy International used to make some really neat guns. They were all turds, but they were funky guns that were neat to own and play with and shoot.

First, there was the PM (Precision Magazine):

Image

Then came the AW (Arctic Warfare):

Image

Then came the AWSM (Arctic Warfare Super Magnum):

Image

Contrast that with "AX". What the hell is AX supposed to stand for? I'm guessing it stands for Arctic Xtreme. What a lame name for a lame gun.

IDK. Calling something xtreme can kind of be a setup for a letdown. If I went to a match called xtreme and it turns out to just be another match with some hiking thrown in then it's kind of disappointing. Id rather have it the other way around where expectations were low and it turns out to be above average.

I'm just not a pic rail kind of guy. They're too easy. I tend to like those kinds of guns where nothing on the gun will interchange with anything else from any other gun.

Here's an example:

http://www.nramuseum.org/umbraco/ImageG ... 018_d2.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's a clone, but it'll work for illustration purposes.

I've always cracked up at the M40A1. I love how the scope has like 1mm of fore-and-aft adjustment in the rings and won't fit bases without the clearance cut for the eyepiece. My limited understanding is that the M40 has a charger slot in the bridge, so the base on the M40A1 won't even fit a standard 700 short action.

I get more kicks out of guns like this than guns that have everything interchangeable with other guns and where you're never really committed in how you set up the gun. I tend to like guns where you're committed. I'm not saying these types of guns are "better". Rather, I'm saying they're more neat and more fun. At least for me. I'm more gun collector than competitive shooter, so I look at guns differently than you guys might.

I never understood the need to put lasers or lights on a bolt action rifle. I can see use for the top rail to mount NV. I've seen some hunting rifle with IR illumination but what's with torches and lasers?

The lack of interchangeability, what you like in the M40, is what is disliked by the military. They what 100% parts interchangeability and interoperability. Having an entire MOS dedicated to fabricating custom floorplate triggerguards, fabricating and silver soldering scope bases, bedding stocks, etc.... doesn't make logistical sense. What you get is an exquisite turd..... which I guess is the appeal.

That said, I'm with you, in that I don't like the picatinny rail on everything and these huge chassis. To me they lack finesse and elegance in engineering. It's a similar comparison to the extruded Aluminum sportbike frames which are light and strong but lack elegance versus a welded chro-moly frame that is equally strong, even lighter and very elegant.

I think with just a little more thought and no more money, they could develop a system that is 100% interchangeable and interoperable and yet still is elegant in design and manufacture.

Rookie.

You need to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.

What about semi-automatic capability with high magazine capacity on your bolt gun?:

If your pistol has forend rails, you can even add another pistol to your pistol. Same goes for your rings:

Image

These picatinny rings let you scope your scope.

When I was shopping for hiking boots I found over 20 boots in production that were "GTX"

I think it must be like the energy drinks now -- you have one factory in China producing the same boot, with different skins.
