Print out your application.
Write a check to Tim for the entry.
Mail me all the applications/checks and I will consolidate them into one overnight mailing.
That will also help them with squadding us all together.

Send to:
Randall Rausch
c/o TPRC
PO Box 66281
Los Angeles, CA 90066

MAKE SURE you get the applications to me by the 30th if you want them consolidated into our mailing.

How much is the entry fee? On the fence about this. Will I get enough practice with the next couple of matches we have? My unsupported will probably never be good.

I will be off for a month at the end of September so I will be getting a lot of practice in. Hoping to make it to the next match. Having my rifle overhauled while I'm away for two months in Nov-Dec. Not looking to place just looking to have a good time. But don't want to look like a douche!

I was afraid of that as well. I had a freakin blast at my first big match and did much better then i even hoped for. If your interested in doing it then don't pass it up. You have plenty of time to get yourself and your equipment ready.

If you, or anyone else for that matter wants to go to out of town matches and really feel that you are prepared, check out this thread:
http://www.caprc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=752" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Try to make it to as many of those specific matches as you can.
There's ample time to put-in for days off as needed.

You can drive to vegas after work on a friday night and be home late saturday night.
Phoenix's match is on sunday so you can leave saturday mid-morning and be into phoenix at dinner time.
Then shoot the match sunday and drive home. It makes for a long weekend, but it's do-able without a day off as well.
Sacramento requires a day off as you want to be into sac friday night to shoot their saturday morning practice session and then their sunday morning match.
You get home around 10-11pm from sac, but you won't be as tired as you will coming back from Phoenix.

I picked specific matches to be done as a train-up that will get us (as a group) ready for Phoenix.
After Phoenix, the big push will be for Sacramento a few months later.

So the 6 entries that I sent in for delivery on the morning of the 1st have ended up on the waiting list...
Scott is assuring us that we will most likely make it in though because they always have lots of drop-outs.

Next problem.
Scott posted on Snipershide that they are not allowing any TPRC participants to shoot their November, December and January matches.
If you are on the wait list or have a slot, you can not come down and shoot our monthly match in Nov/DEC/Jan.
That leaves us with the following matches for anyone that wants to gather some intel on the range where the big match is held:

Sep 19th 7am
Oct 17th 8am

Last year there were about 22 people on the waiting list. As Scott said and Randall has restated, everyone got in the match. There is always dropouts. I look forward to shooting with you all then!

Randall, did Scott say that we could not show up and 'observe' the Nov, Dec, Jan matches???

So after watching those videos totally stoked and bummed at the same time. Randell and anyone else who shot it last year. Am I going to even be able to do all the stages? In the one video some one is shooting off of a Newspaper thing. Kinda high for me. Were there any stages you guys can remember that height would be an issue with me? Beside getting my shooting up to speed. Will I be able to do this?

Do you think you could shoot from the top of the newspaper stand with out a pack on top of it Nathan? I'm pretty sure exceptions and compromises could be made on positions for you but you might want to email the MD and talk to him first.

The newspaper stand was actually pretty low. Im 6'3" and I believe I shot off the newapaper stand while sitting on my knees. If anything shortness has its advantages for shooting out of the vehicles, helicopter, and doghouse.

Ok, now my turn...Movers...Do you chase them or wait for the target come into the proper lead point...I see Ryan shooting it by not moving his rifle...I was chasing the target around on Satuday...which is better...

I tried both at TBRC which was my first time shooting movers. I think i favored the ambush technique over the chase but i need more practice to be sure.

I ambush.
Get about 3-4 mils ahead of the target and get stable and lined up so that when you see the target aproaching your fire position (1-1.5 mils), you can snap the shot.

Having never shot movers i can't be certain, but it seems that chasing the target would be difficult on a prone stage with a scoped rifle. You can't do a whole lot of movement until your not properly behind your rifle any longer. I'd want to stick with ambush as well. Chasing a target or using a follow-through type method seems more suited to swinging a shotgun.

Chasing while prone really isn't as awkward as a it may seem. I did halfway decent using the chasing technique. A target moving only 3mph that's 3-400yds away doesn't equate to a whole lot of swing on your end back at the rifle. I just felt better and did better using the ambush technique.

Here is a couple of vids from TPRC 2010 of RKSimple and myself engaging the mover. I believe the range was 530yds. Watching how much movement there of the rifles, this I believe could have been shot using either technique. I ambushed the target as I think RKSimple did as well.
