Is there any regular maintenance/upkeep that I could do at the spot on federal land? Spray painting the targets, etc.?
I haven't shot there yet, but I'm familiar with the spot as I drive right past it almost once a month on my way to visit friends up in Tehachapi. I'm probably going by there on Sunday.

The biggest thing needed is some leveling of the right side of the line.
Then brush clearing behind targets and in the parking area.

If we really want the spot to be cleared I can pick up this crazy powerful weed killer that my parents use up at their ranch. It's $50 or so a gallon but kills them good for 3+ years. We wouldn't need to clear the line for a long time

We can pour gas on them for $3.09 per gal and kill them just as well. ;)

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind when I go to shoot there. Tomorrow is looking to be pretty hot so I might not get out of the car 8-)

I stopped by the spot today around 4:00PM to take a look. The weather was pretty pleasant. Temp was probably 90*F but there was a slight breeze and it was enough to keep cool.
There sure is a lot of trash around that area.. Next time I get out there with a rake and shovel to level the line, I want to try to rake up and bag a lot of the shotshell hulls that are laying around at the nearby plinking spots.

My girlfriend and I cleaned up the line a bit the day before yesterday. Raked up all the rocks on the line, and shoveled some dirt around to smooth/level it out a bit. It still needs work and I think the rain will probably change the terrain some.
I forgot the machete so I didn't get to clear any brush yet, but I know where most of the targets are now.

Very cool thing to do. Thank you very much.
