Mark pulled a third place finish at the DM 600 yard night shoot last night. I believe he also ended up with one of the smallest groups. It was a good time and a hell of a lot colder than you would expect when it was triple digits just two days before. Nice shooting, man.

Christian invited me but i had to go to the Costa Mesa gun show yesterday to pick up a bunch of stuff. I would've gone otherwise.

I used the lit reticle on my NF for the first time last night. Was MUCH better than not having one imo.

Short firing pin protrusion (pin not hitting the primer enough)
Short headspace dimension to the brass (pin not hitting the primer enough)
Deeply seated primers (pin not hitting the primer enough)

Mine's an aftermarket bolt. Glen at Defiance seems to think it's the Timney trigger. I ordered up a Jewell and he's going to take a look at the bolt.

That does not make sense.
Once the trigger is pulled, the cocking piece slides over the top of it.
If the trigger was a problem, you should be able to look down at the sear and see a big bump where the cocking piece had been bottoming out on the sear instead of inside the bolt.
Take a look at the sear with the bolt removed from the receiver and post a picture of what you see.

I have a Timney trigger as well... I still occassionaly get light strikes.. I had Randy Cain check out my firing pin and it was too short so he changed it out... But it still will do it, but sometimes I do seat primmers too deep since I am using a 650

Your screen resolution is too low.
With higher resolution or a larger monitor, you can see everything.

Lock time really does not effect ignition.
Lock time changes WHEN ignition occurs.
You are having ignition failures.

I'm failing to make the connection between lock time and ignition failure. By bolt action rifle standards the Mauser M98 has one of the slowest lock times on record but it's also one of the most reliable ignition systems......

Are you certain your bolt doesn't have a lightened FP & spring? By your photo, your trigger doesn't appear to be the problem. Don't think buying a Jewel is money well spent in diagnosing this issue.

I don't know but I sent it to Glen to sort out. As for the trigger, I don't really care for the wide Timney anyway. The Jewell is much more to my liking.
