CAPRC Marksmanship Clinic A 4-17-16

Posted: Sun Jan 24, 2016 7:26 pm
by AR15barrels
Come on out and join us at Angeles for our new precision rifle shooter orientation on Sunday April 17th.
This will be day 1 of a 4 training days to complete the full set of marksmanship clinics.
We will teach how to get behind the gun/scope, attaining proper eye relief, using the features of the scope and natural point of aim.
Then we will check your zero at 100yds and get the knobs set to zero and work on the basics of marksmanship.
The course curriculum was written by a former USMC scout sniper instructor.
This is a beginning precision rifle shooter clinic so we will concentrate on basic marksmanship as it is the basis of all future learning.
This will be shot at 100yds.
Fees are $75 for non members or $50 for club members.
The entry fee covers the classroom session, cold drinks and BBQ lunch.
We will limit this to 20 shooters.
Plan on a full day as the schedule has us shooting until at least 4pm.
You may attend the classroom portion as a non-shooter and then observe the shooting portion of the day for a reduced $25 non-shooter fee.

Image

Tentative schedule as follows:
8:30 Sign-in at hunters education classroom
9:00 Classroom session at hunters education classroom
11:45 move to the Eagles Nest "C" range and safety briefing
12:00 verify, correct and zero knobs at 100yds (10 rds)
12:30 BBQ lunch break
1:00-4pm open shooting time with instruction

Some things to bring:
Precision bolt-action rifle wearing a scope with target knobs, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 80 rounds of match quality ammo, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad and a pencil or pen to take notes.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.

This is a Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting tight groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
If possible, please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero.
We will verify a correct zero at the shoot, but it takes time that is better spent putting rounds on targets.

RSVP's for CaPRC club members will be accepted after 12 noon on Thursday 3/24/16.
RSVP's for non club members will be accepted after 12 noon on Thursday 3/31/16.
RSVP by posting "I will be there" in this thread to get on the shooters list.
Any shooter RSVP's posted before those times will be ignored or deleted.

We are also looking for experienced club members to show up and help instruct.

Awesome.
It's gonna be different this year with the first 3 clinics spread over 3 weekends in a row.
Maybe the shooters will have better retention and remember how to get behind their rifles in the B clinic with the A clinic having been just the week prior.

There is a setting in your "User Control Panel" under "Board Preferences" to turn on Daylight Savings Time.

Change this setting to "Yes".

Good morning Randall,

I was in last years A and B clinic, but felt I was not well fully prepared. I intend to enroll in the A Clinic as a non-member March 31st, but I wanted to ask which Ballistics Calculator is best for this clinic? I have both Android and Apple hardware so advice is appreciated.

My Friend is a CPRC member and I hope to team up with him during this shoot.

Thanks,

Imposter

The two most popular ballistics programs will be Ballistic on the Iphone or Shooter on Android.
Those are the two that we will be teaching during Clinic B.
You will not need a ballistics program for Clinic A.

I will pull the last week's applications from the PO box and process them tomorrow night so that anyone who got their membership to us by the 30th will be able to sign up before the registration opens to the public.
Any early non-member RSVP's will be removed just before the public registration opens.

Which ever operating system you prefer (Ios vs Android) would be how I pick.
Both programs have a learning curve so use whichever device you are more comfortable with.

Depends on your GPS..... you have the right address.... but it might find it in lake view... it might find it in 'Sylmar'
91342.....

You will be meeting up by the parking lot near the main range on the far left end of it- you'll see a portable building marked "Hunters Education". Probably a group of people hanging out in that area bashing each other and BS ing the whole time.... you found the right place....
