CaPRC shortrange clinic Saturday July 24th

Come on out and join us at Angeles for our new precision rifle shooter orientation on Saturday July 24th.
We will start out with a clinic on proper position behind the gun, eye relief and natural point of aim as well as an introduction to the proper seated, kneeling and offhand positions.
Then we will check your zero at 100yds and get the knobs set to zero.
From there we will work on precision targets within 300yds and positional shooting.
Experienced club members will be on hand to help new shooters.
We will limit this to 12 actual shooters so that those shooters can get maximum range time.
Cold drinks and BBQ will be provided as part of the $30 entry/range fee for the day.
The entry fee covers your use of the range for the rest of the day after the clinic is over too.
Plan on a full day as the schedule has us shooting until at least 3pm.
Tentative schedule as follows:
8:30 signups
9:15 line goes hot
9:15 proper prone position talk
9:30 verify, correct and zero knobs at 100yds (5-10 rds)
10:30 data management talk - know where your zero is
10:45 100yd poker chips (5 rds)
11:00 200yd ipsc paper (5 rds)
11:30 200yd little man (4 rds)
12:00 lunch
12:30 300yd ipsc paper (5 rds)
1:00 300yd 4" plate transistion to 6" plate (6 rds)
2:00 100yd seated ipsc (10 rds)
2:30 100yd kneeling ipsc (10 rds)
Since we don't need to shoot at longer ranges for this practice session, it will be held at Angeles Ranges.
Please show up before 8:30am to get signed in.
We will be all the way to the left on the rifle range.
You can print-out an Angeles waiver and fill it out at home to save time during the sign-in process.
http://www.angelesranges.com/form.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Some things to bring:
Precision rifle wearing a scope with target knobs, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 60 rounds of match quality ammo, printout from a ballistics program showing your bullet drop in moa or mils as appropriate to your scope, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad to take notes, pencil or pen, food & water for 6 hours and a backpack or bag to shoot off of.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.
This is a
Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting tight groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
Please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero.
If you need help with this, we can do it at the shoot, but it takes time that is better spent putting rounds on targets.
Please RSVP in this thread by the Thursday before the shoot if you plan to attend.
When you RSVP please post something very definite in this thread such as "I will be there".
I will not accept "if...", "I would like" or "I might" responses as an RSVP.
The following people are on the schedule as shooters:
khw9mm
Bajaracer
robert hode
Iloveguns
hill billy
jawcn
maddesign's kid
DJDace
megamachine
The following people will coach and run the line:
AR15barrels
264Charlie
Gnzrme
DirtRacer151
Non-shooters are welcome of course and you will still learn a bunch even if you are not shooting.

COF A is happening at Angeles this month because they have a shaded shooting line and we don't need a 1K range to do course A.

Screw the scope... try it for the laser instead! Your welcome to run it through the paces so long as you promise not to build one after

Precision rifles are as close to crack as anything I can imagine. My first time out with the club in February I came observe and see if i wanted to get into the precision game. I shot a few rounds through a few guys guns, but the one round through Ryans 260 was like pure crack for me.
Pretty soon we'll all end up like James and Kurtis, pimping eachother out for extra money for primers.

Let the record show that I made no mention of homosexuality at all. Simply a business relationship between you and a fellow shooter involving the oldest profession, prostitution, I'd hope your clients would be female. I'm not hating, you've gotta pay for hobby somehow.

I'll be there Randall, need to re-zero my scope and put the rifle through it's paces now that it has some new hardware. Plus I could use the trigger time and advice.
[EDIT] Nevermind, take me off the list, I have a stupid Doctor's appointment at 9am that I completely forgot about. Maybe I'll come by afterward to shoot a few rounds if it doesn't take too long.

Due to movement, you would have to shoot it single shot on the positional stages.

We are also having a BBQ for the shooters and line staff.
If you are not shooting or helping run the line, you can jump in on the BBQ for $10.

My doctor's appointment will be quick, so once I am done there I will come by for the BBQ. If there is anything I can bring to help let me know (I can bring soda, water, snacks etc). I'll have all my gear packed and ready before I leave for the Doc so I can just load up the SUV and head to the range afterward (it's only a 20 min drive for me). One way or the other I'll be there to shoot with ya'll for at least a portion of the day.

You will find a sling helpful in seated and kneeling and we will be teaching the proper usage of a sling in those positions.
