CAPRC Marksmanship Clinic "B" 4-12-14

Come on out and join us at Angeles for the 2nd part of our new precision rifle shooter series of clinics on Saturday April 12th.
This shoot will have you gathering dope from a 100yd zero out to 600yds as well as work on spotting and calling shots and making corrections from calls.
We wil be continuing with using the features of the scope and how to make accurate soft dope from your hard dope using ballistics software.
You need to have attended (as a shooter) one of our former "A" clinics during 2013 or 2014 in order to attend this clinic as a shooter.
We will limit this to 22 shooters so that those shooters can get maximum range time.
Fees are $75 for non members or $50 for club members.
The entry fee covers the classroom sessions, cold drinks and BBQ lunch and your use of the range for the rest of the day after the clinic is over.
Plan on a full day as the schedule has us shooting until at least 3pm.
You may participate as a non-shooter, observe the shooting portion of the day and join us for the BBQ for a reduced $25 non-shooter fee.

Image

Tentative schedule as follows:
7:15 Sign-in
7:30 Classroom session on the firing line.
8:15 line goes hot. verify, correct and zero knobs at 100yds (5-10 rds)
10:00 open shooting time with instruction as needed
12:00 BBQ lunch break
1:00 open shooting time with instruction as needed

Some things to bring:
Precision rifle wearing a scope with target knobs, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 80 rounds of match quality ammo, printout from a ballistics program showing your bullet drop in moa or mils as appropriate to your scope, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad and a pencil or pen to take notes.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.

This is a Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting 1moa groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
Please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero before you arrive on the day of the shoot.
We will verify a correct zero at the shoot, but it takes time that is better spent putting rounds on targets.

We are also looking for our experienced club members to show up and help instruct.
If you are able to help on the line, please RSVP anytime.

RSVP's for CaPRC club member shooters will be accepted after 12 noon on Friday 3/28/14.
RSVP's for non club member shooters will be accepted after 12 noon on Friday 4/4/14.
Any RSVP's posted before those times will be ignored or deleted.

yeah, I tried to do the "I'm needed and I like to do this" but with 2 work conferences (one the same week) and a recent trip to AZ, I think I am due to spend a weekend with the fam....

Plus, this is the weekend for the "talk" with Megan and I will have to be around for questions.... oh joy....

Class is being hosted by Chen Lee (aka SMGLee).
Instructor is an LAPD firearms instructor.
Its just a one day class.

Do you shoot at random colored cars. Dumping full clips of high speed ammo will little regard to what you hit? :)

No. Paper targets at close range. Still fun though.

Nathan, you only help to make our wallets thinner... I'm not sure that is helping. :D

By the way, since we are gathering dope out to 600 this time, does this mean we'll be under the covers of the regular rifle line?

Yes it will be on the main firing line so it will be shaded.

I would like to attend the Clinic B if there is a loaner rifle. We determined during the A clinic that it was either my scope or my barrel that was bad. After switching scopes, I'm soory to say that it's my barrel. Called Remington and they said to send it back for repair.
If there is no loaner available I'd still like to come as a Non-Shooter.
