				CaPRC Marksmanship Clinic "B" 10-23-11
				Posted: Sat Oct 08, 2011 1:14 pm
				by AR15barrels
Come on out and join us at Angeles for the 2nd part of our new precision rifle shooter series of clinics on Sunday October 23rd.
This shoot will have you gathering dope from 100yds out to 600yds as well as work on spotting and calling shots and making corrections from calls.
We wil be continuing with using the features of the scope and how to make accurate soft dope from your hard dope using ballistics software.
You need to have attended (as a shooter) one of our former "A" clinics during 2011 in order to attend this clinic as a shooter.
We will limit this to 24 shooters so that those shooters can get maximum range time.
Fees are $50 for non members or $40 for club members.
The entry fee covers the classroom sessions, cold drinks and BBQ lunch and your use of the range for the rest of the day after the clinic is over.
Plan on a full day as the schedule has us shooting until at least 3pm.
You may particpte as a non-shooter, observe the shooting portion of the day and join us for the BBQ for a reduced $20 non-shooter fee.

Tentative schedule as follows:
7:15 Sign-in
7:30 Classroom session on the firing line.
8:15 line goes hot. verify, correct and zero knobs at 100yds (5-10 rds)
10:00 open shooting time with instruction as needed
12:00 BBQ lunch break
1:00 open shooting time with instruction as needed
Some things to bring:
Precision rifle wearing a scope with target knobs, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 80 rounds of match quality ammo, printout from a ballistics program showing your bullet drop in moa or mils as appropriate to your scope, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad and a pencil or pen to take notes.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.
This is a
Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting tight groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
If possible, please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero.
We will verify a correct zero at the shoot, but it takes time that is better spent putting rounds on targets.
We are also looking for our experienced club members to show up and help instruct.
If you are able to help on the line, please RSVP anytime.
RSVP's for CaPRC club member shooters will be accepted after 12 noon on Monday 10/17.
RSVP's for non club member shooters will be accepted after 12 noon on Tuesday 10/18.
Any RSVP's posted before those times will be ignored or deleted.

Will there be another clinic "B" by 2012? I'm assuming this is a prerequisite to clinic "C" and I don't want to be left out

We do our best to switch off, one group of classes will all fall on saturdays, the next all on sundays. Or at least thats what we shoot for

Saturday's have not been working out that well for anyone's schedule...
Since our matches and most other matches fall on sundays, we have been sticking to sundays as that way we are better covering the people most likely to be able to make it out to matches.

Hey Randall,
I hope you don't give up on the Saturday classes for good.
For guys like me who have a hard time to make it out on the Sunday events.

Hopefully I can get in on this to shoot! just found out about it today, I missed the last clinic A but have done the appleseed program a lot and done it as an instructor, I have a lot of experience zeroing and using a scope and have a rifle ready to go. I'm sure i'd be able to keep up in the class. If I can do it I'd love to, if not I guess I'll have to wait 5 months till the next Clinic A. Please let me know I'd love to be signed up asap!
Thanks,
Ghost

If you have instructed Appleseed, you're good to go for a B clinic.

What ballistics program do you recommend for printing out bullet drop? FYI, I just downloaded "Ballistic FTE" for the iPhone.

I phone with FTE will work. If you wish to use a PC use
http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jb ... mp-5.1.cgi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I will also have some standard dope for guns that should get everyone close.

But we will try and get you to be square behind the rifle, contrary to the more traditional NRA/ Appleseed prone position. Give it a try.

No, this will actually be held on the rifle line. Please come to the left end of the rifle line, do not sign into the office 1st.

So just like for the "A" class we all kinda meet in the parking lot? But instead of heading for the Hunters Education Trailer we should just meet on the shooting lanes to the left of the ASR office? Just want to clarify since this is my second time at ASR and I am driving from San Diego.
