So it's raining and gusting over 20 mph. My rifle is down for the day. I am unable to close or feed the ammo I brought for the match. Worked before so I think I have crap in the action the preventing it from closing. Will spray it out and try again tomorrow. 2 people have been DQ'd for ND's. But any day on the line is a good day

Yup at big matches a ND immediately earns a DQ

I would think so! Weather it was the rifle or the operator either way not safe.

Charlie said my name was up but there was no way i was gonna make it to AZ. No scope and no ammo loaded doesn't help.

Lesson learned.
Bolts open during transitions.
It could happen to you.
Ouch, thats a rookie mistake coming from someone like him. Shows that anyone can let their guard down and forget the basics.
I had a guy who was the clubs safety director for a match I was shooting at a couple years ago that put a round through the roof of an outdoor range as everyone was packing up. He had an unfired .22lr round that never cleared the chamber no matter how many times he cycled the bolt and he assumed it was clear. Unfortunately he didn't look with his eyes but thankfully he kept the muzzle in a safe direction. Tard

I think we had a total of 3 ND/AD's... One rifle malfunctioned and fired when it wasnt supposed to and the person got DQ'd....

I have seen very few AD's. 99.9% of the time its an ND.
Can you elaborate on the malfunction?

Bolt closed on loaded chamber.
Pull trigger.
No bang.
work safety on and then off.
No bang.
Lift bolt.
Bang.
New stock.
Front action screw too long and drags on bolt.
Upon jostling bolt, striker releases.

Don't feel so bad for him now. Run it on the edge like that your bound to get screwed. Frankly running a trigger that light in a comp gun that isn't benchrest is just asking for trouble and is probably negligent anyway.

Boys in NV don't play around with ND/AD/DQ... According to the shooters meeting your day was done if you
Fired a round outside of your "shoot" time
Fired a round with out complete control of your gun and on target
Fired a round past the SF command
Sent an extra round down range (even if it hit the target). This could be an easy mistake on a 25 round stage.
Shooting at the wrong target (not on your course of fire)
Muzzle sweeps
I have witnessed more than a few guy violate the last three at our matches. Remember with little prep, rain, 7 hours of shooting, cold temps, slippery everything, wet gear, gritty gear and just a lot of action in general this is not anything like a monthly match. It's a lot easier to have a issue with your brain or gear at big events. Very obvious by the caliber of shooters that DQ'd. Now we need to get a bit tougher at our matches.

I would agree... I don't really think too many accidents (an event that happens by chance or that is without apparent or deliberate cause) happen. Accidents are just a nice way for people to say I was unprepared, irresponsible or not minding my actions. This works the other way too. I believe luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
TPRC had a lot for people with mental or mechanical malfunctions on the line, some caused the rifle to fire. That said, your rifle cannot fire with the bolt open until you are ready to shoot.

First off, congrats to Mr. Kerr for a 3rd place finish. It is one thing to shoot and perform well in good conditions...its a whole different level to battle through the wicked shit we dealt with this last weekend. Our squad shot both the LR stages on the windy day....demoralizing to say the least.
+1 with what Charlie said.
You have almost 70 dudes running hard in some crazy conditions...shit will happen..sooner or later. Our top shooter was one of them..he ND'ed. I saw it, and it was a righteous call from a MD's point of view. Sucked for me as a friend to see any of my buddies go home.
Shawn was not an ND...he fired before the beep and hit his target in homey position even.
I know two guys that had their triggers go down. One had a failed USO. Even my trigger finally said F' it and started to malfunction on my 100yard bay on Sunday. Luckily I carry a bottle of lighter fluid, and that seem to have fixed it to allow me to limp in to the finish line.
Steve P......thank you for the lil talk. However, I need to bust your balls for apologizing to the "other asian guy" on the Nor Cal squad. Not all of us asians look a like. Cha told me you walked up to him, thinking he was me. That shit had me LMAO for about 4 miles.
Good seeing most of you guys, see some of you in a few months.
Vu

He was shorter that what I saw in the pictures, but I figured, asain....it had to be him.... Well I was wrong... And he does look like you, Vu and I am not the only one that has made that mistake.... LOL

No worries man....Cha and I get mixed up ALLLLLLL THE FAWKING TIME! Even our own club members do it.......

As for the lighter fluid, it is what Jewell says to use to clean out their triggers. You are not suppose to oil them, or use any type of solevent on them. I always carry a bottle of Roson lighter fuel in my tool box for trigger issues.
http://www.ronsonusa.com/LighterFuel.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You can probably use brake cleaner, but you want everything to go into the trigger assembly. With the high pressure of the brake clearner you might get it your action and what not. Roson lighter fuel is all I've used for years to clean my triggers.

LOL! I actually shot my first handgun about a year ago and then stumbled onto CalGuns. After reading a bit there, I told my wife, "Damn, these rednecks are getting an arsenal together. We better get a few guns just in case they try to kick us out!" Hahaha. Rednecks are afraid of zombies. I'm afraid of rednecks.
