(Between Temecula and Fallbrook off I-15)
Was a fine time, with great company.

I'm assuming those orange tubes hanging off poles are wind indicators. Is it common for the wind to change direction based on distance that much? It looks like every other one is pointing a different direction.

That's how it is at Pala... the better wind indicators are the hanging surveyors tape, which will react to barely a light breeze. For the most part the wind was blowing from Left to Right. The wind didn't blow during our initial zero check minutes before the match started, then caught everyone by surprise. :o

The wind can be very tricky there. 1/10th of a mil makes a big difference.
Note to self....bring reading glasses and a flashlight next time!

Is that a mechanical BR rest and a straight barrel, RBLP, f class gun at a tactical rifle match? Was there any positional? Hopefully not, for his sake.
Good shooting guys.

(Match Winner) Was there any positional?
(Yes, Prone is a position.....
) Hopefully not, for his sake.
Good shooting guys.
It was an "All Prone, any front, any rear" match. I think most shooters used bipods, but there were a few front BR prone rests and then Ben has is Rube Goldberg, double throwdown work of art front rest......
Our targets were the big and small swingers and little knock offs. It was a "known distance" match, but you were never exactly sure the distance they gave you was the actual distance, whether those distances were in meters/yards and there was that pesky wind to contend with. Definitely low-key and relaxed. Great opportunity to collect hard DOPE.

There were about 8 stages give or take.
Each stage was about 3 - 5 rounds with no enforced time limit. The first shot of every stage was pretty much a coldbore shot.
Sample Stage:
2 rounds @ big swinger
2 rounds @ small swinger
1 round @ knock off / tennis ball

How's it going guys, my name is Manh and the pala match last sunday was my first long range shoot ever. I didn't even know how to adjust my scope and was using holdover out to 600yards with a 100 yard zero. I had a blast and will be coming back next month and thank you everyone for helping me out, especially Lance who gave me a crash course in precision shooting.

That's because he usually does not shoot centerfire matches.
It's kinda like a virgin saying that he has never shot his load in less than 20 minutes of action...

I'm undefeated with my 260.
I've never shot it in a match...

Nope. Less valium and motrin and I would have been gtg. Glasses would have been a plus also.
Did not take it serious at all. Actually was lucky I made the match.
