CaPRC longrange clinic 12-18-10 Cancelled

by AR15barrels
Come on out and join us for our longrange clinic on Saturday December 18th.
We will be holding this shoot at the tri-county sportsmans club in Cuyama, CA.
Cuyama is southwest of Taft.
We will meet up at a park-n-ride at the 405 and the 118 and carpool out to the range as a group.
It is just under a 2 hr drive from the meeting location.
Use google maps to find the meeting location : 15550 Chatsworth Street, Mission Hills, CA

Please note that this is NOT the same meeting location we have used in the past!

You must have shot our new precision rifle shooter clinics in the past to attend this shoot.
You also need to have a solid 100yd zero before you arrive as we will not have a way to check our 100yd zeros on this range.
We will shoot and spot paper targets at 800yds, 900yds and 1000yds.
Experienced club members will be on hand to help new shooters.
We will limit this to 20 actual shooters as we have only 5 lanes.
Cold drinks and BBQ will be provided as part of the $40 entry/range fee for the day.

Tentative schedule:
7:00 to 7:30 Gather at Park-n-Ride.
7:30 travel to Cuyama.
9:15 Arrive at Cuyama.
9:30 Shooters Meeting.
9:45 Shooters to the 800yd line.
10:45 Shooters to the 900yd line.
12:00 BBQ Lunch.
12:45 Shooters to the 1000yd line.
2:00 Travel back to Park-n-Ride.
4:00 Arrive at Park-n-Ride.

Some things to bring:
Precision rifle wearing a scope with target knobs, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 60 rounds of match quality ammo, printout from a ballistics program showing your bullet drop in moa or mils as appropriate to your scope, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad to take notes, pencil or pen.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.

This is a Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting tight groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
Please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero.

We will limit this to 20 shooters as we have a limited number of lanes.
Please RSVP in this thread if you plan to attend.
When you RSVP please post something very definite in this thread such as "I will be there".
We will not accept "if...", "I would like" or "I might" responses as an RSVP.

The following people will coach and help run the line when not shooting:
AR15barrels
Gnzrme

The following people are on the schedule as shooters:
DavidRSA
Jeff361
robert hode
Dive N Shoot
Juice5610
Crow King
marxdspot

Non-shooters are welcome of course and you will still learn something even if you are not shooting.

sorry Randal it was late when i skimmed your post. I see the $40 entry fee. To be more specific, I have a solid 100yard zero and a ballistic recital out to 1000 yards. I received my rear bag today. I shot with you and couple others at Angeles range once, but I'm not sure if that counts as a new shooter's clinic. After your lesson on parallax I'm down to 1.5moa last time I shot without a rear bag.

The new shooters clinic has specific instruction on how to get behind your rifle, how to manage the bag, how to work the trigger etc...
If you had been to one of those, you would be qualified to come to course C.
If not, then you would be wasting your time if you don't have the foundation layed from Course A.

In the event that I get to shoot I have loaded up some 308's with 175 SMK, 43.5 RL15, going 2615. This should be good to 1000 right?

I also have a good zero on my Savage and I seem to be dead on with my ballistics app compared to my dope.

Well gents, we ended up canceling the last one, lets not try to cancel this one... We got eyes/persons on the ground at the range from about 10am friday onward...We will get live weather reports by text and Randall is also considering camping at the range as well. If we bring tarps, trash bags and rain suits, we can still shoot this. Lets bring about 4 easy ups, lots of stakes and tarps and we can put up covers on the 800, 900 and 1000 yard lines....Pits are already covered, but it will still be wet....

Remember.... "If it ain't raining, we aint training"

I will go regardless unless you guys are going to cancel. Michael Tuck will be up there as well even if we do not show, so lets just go anyways.....

I'm going to have to miss this one. Doctor put me on antibiotics on Tuesday and I thought I'd be better by the weekend but still getting worse. Hope the weather clears up for everyone else!

Me and a buddy would like to participate, however, we haven't been to any previous clinic before. If you have extra spots for two. We would like to start from this event.

Thank you,

Dyl..

The weather report for that area says 100% chance of rain tomorrow.

With as much rain as they are going to get overnight, the ground is going to be too muddy.
I hate to do cancel it again, but it's not going to be a good time tomorrow.

Therefore, it's cancelled.

There are some things you don't have much any control over, like the weather.

It's not good, it's not bad; it just is.

On the bright side personally, it gives me another chance to finish up and shoot "Course C", rather than missing it and having to wait for the next cycle. With my schedule the way it's been, I couldn't attend the last two scheduled clinics.

Since I won't see you guys in person before, thanks for organizing and putting everything together...and the best for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year, too!
