Was looking at making some Targets out of AR-500. What thickness do you want for this stuff? Looking at making little mans and other stuff. Nothing to big.

Wait for Joe308 to jump in.
He had some plates cut before.

5/8 is a little thick for target that a single shooter would use, I use an 3/8 inch half-sized IPSC A500 that has stood up to thousands of all kinds of rounds.

Bought it here..

Hey guys,

I bought some AR-500 3/8" thick, from a local place out here in Lancaster "Endura Steel".

They can get pretty much get any size you want at a decent price.

Can they cut it as well? I'm looking to pick up a big square piece but would like two small holes cut in the upper corners.

Pretty sure they can. But you would have to call & ask to make sure.

A bit tricky to find at first. Got lost last time. Thankfully, the phones work there.

We should plan another trip out.

I can cut it if they can't. They don't usually cut holes, bought a LOT of steel from them.

4'x4' new. They will cut it down but you pay for a half sheet. IMS down in Sun Valley has a lot of sheet remnants.

Joor Bros steel in corona carries 1/4" 3/8" 5/16" and 1/2" and maybe even thicker. They charge 1.38 per pound and i got a 24" x 24" piece of 1/4" steel for $56. Their prices seem pretty reasonable and that price includes the cutting of normal shapes, circle, square, etc. For a nominal fee they can cut it in basically any shape you could want.

The trick to cutting AR500 is to do it submerged.
By cutting it underwater, the heat effected zone is much smaller so your edges are not damaged as much as if it is cut dry.

Or find somebody with an abrasive water jet.
