I'll catch the next clinic....

Guys,
I am flying out tomorrow to Washington to shoot the JC Steel Challenge so I am not going to be able to be there this Sunday.
Solomon is going to be nice enough to rep SAP at the clinic for any shooters who need any bags, bipods, or other gear.

Assuming that we're picking up where we left off, and for those that still have the informational booklet from the A-Clinic, should we bring the booklet to the B-Clinic? Or are we starting fresh?
Always trying to save a tree, I am.
More a question for Brad, but I'll take any answer since he rarely chimes in here.

The booklet is not needed for the B clinic as there is no classroom time.

My bad....I was misled by the B-Clinic description:
The entry fee covers the classroom sessions
ETA: Rather be shooting anyway.

Postal, I will be up there and I'll bring you the LRF, but I'll be getting there late morning. Randall built me my lightweight 6BR yesterday that looks and feels to have a lot of promise. I am going to be sighting it in with load data I got from Lynn. I think it will be a shooter.
For folks shooting factory 308 ammo, I highly recommend taking a look at 168gr Norma or Nosler match. These two give you about 100fps extra compared to 168gr FGMM, and they are a much better value than FGMM because the cases are much higher quality for when you wish to reload them. The FGMM is in FC brass, which is actually what I use since I have over 3,000 pieces and it is very consistent, but the FC brass is very soft and I find that I only get about 5 firings out of them before the primer pocket is toast. For 308, I use 168gr SMKs with 44.4gr of IMR 4064 at 2.800", which is about 0.015 of the lands in my rifle. That's the best I have done for 0-600 yard .308 Win. Most people favor 175s for .308 since the 168s do poorly at lower velocities; however, while the bullet is 2,000fps+, it's extremely tough to beat. If I were learning .308 now, I'd be looking to use the new tipped 168 SMK as the BCs are impressive. I switched from Varget to IMR 4064 a couple years back when I knew Varget would be very tough to find. I actually stuck with 4064 since it provided me results as consistent/accurate/precise but with higher velocities.

Would a couple of the line helpers who shoot a 308 please bring a rifle and 40 rounds in case we end up with an odd number of shooters.
Clinic B is shot in pairs so we may need someone to fill-in as an extra spotter/shooter.

I could use a couple helpers EARLY, like 6:30am at the range as I did not get out to setup the steel tonight.
Shopping is all done.
The menu is burgers, sausages, garlic bread, beans, potato salad, chips & salsa and some snacks.

I have 3 grills and 3 full 20lb propane cylinders.
We always need more tables as there are only a couple of them in that area by the flag pole.
If someone has a camp stove and a propane cylinder, that would be better for the beans than taking up grill space with the pot of beans.

I have a folding table.
Burgers, brats/beans and bread are no problem. I dont need to worry about food poisoning people with undercooked chicken or or making chicken jerky....

I just came through Beaumont on my way into town, and there was a torrential downpour. I was a little scared we were going to get rained out and my trip would be for naught.

The weather forecast for tomorrow at the range is 75 degrees, sunny, 10mph wind and 0% chance of precipitation.
The cold front that you passed through today is what brought us today's cool weather and rain.

For any of the new guys (or anyone really) looking for a new KESTREL 4500 with APPLIED BALLISTICS, I found a deal on them. They normally retail for $589.00 (+ tax and/or shipping), but I found a seller that will do $500.00 including shipping.
If you're interested, PM for details.
