Im going to have to zero my SPS. Its a virgin and needs some copper down the bore and the knobs zeroed. Probably need to run a few through the chrono too so i can get some dope for my buddy thats coming so hes not struggling with that the whole time.

But you are a well versed and have jedi ways! I'll bring my chrony if you promise not to blow it to pieces... What powder are you reloading with? If you have Reloader 15 and use the Amax's you can ref my recent thread on reloading for some fps.

That's correct.
We won't be doing 100yd zeroing at this month's shoot.
If you guys want to zero the night before by flashlight, have at it.
There's probably some targets still up on the cardboard or you can bring your own.
Set a couple LED flashlights on the ground and point them at the targets and there's more than enough light to see your impacts if the gun is bore-sighted prior to firing.

I'm not sure if the ammo you have is steel core or not, if it is, it'd probably be best not to shoot it at the steel targets as it damages them.
Do not shoot steel core ammo at our matches or training days. You will be removed from the line.

I kinda figured there should be a rule against it, I just never heard about it before at the spot. Last thing we need is a fire, or targets with holes or deep pits in them.

We've never really had an issue with making this a well known rule because steel core ammo is generally not something people shoot from the kinda rifles we play with.

So it looks like overnight camping plans might be shot... I might still drive up to the park and ride and sleep there overnight so I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn, not sure yet. Anyway, see you all on Saturday regardless.

I'm still thinking of going up friday night and staying at Ryan's.
Who can meet everyone at the park & ride and lead them up?

Frank,

I am probably not going to be able to make it. Can you come down the 5 and up the 14 instead of across the 138 and meet everyone at the Park N Ride to lead up the group?

He's only about 45 minutes away from Tehachapi via the 58. Going to the park and ride would only be like 2 or more hours out of his way. Best would be to find someone closer.

What's the normal flow of these practices? Never been to one so trying to get a better idea of what to expect... Seems like getting solid hard dope on tons of distances etc.

Its pretty easy going, and people will generally be around to help you out.

I showed up my first time with absolutely nothing, and Ryan held my hand and helped me get on every single target that day.

I hope to marry him some..... whoa what?

I think I'm gonna make it. I am always pending work so I don't want to be the park n ride leader since my work plans change by the second. If I could guarantee the day off I would gladly do it but when people count on me is when work likes to call. Hopefully see you guys in the AM

That's a good question... James, his guys and I are all going up early to get zeroed ect so I'm not sure who else is left. How far is the spot from Palmdale as opposed to Mojave near Ryan's?

We had 9 shooters and a couple of extras who braved the cold and wind to shoot today. The weather was raw and cold with temperatures in the 40's, winds at times were above 30 mph so the wind chill was in the 30's.

Here's a picture of Randall's Kestrel screen showing the peak and average windspeeds.

The wind was mostly a headwind.
I was only holding 2-2.5 mils at 840 with my 243.
