Just to answer some of the questions asked:

The Range is at N34 53' 54" W 119 29' 54" on Google Earth / Maps. If you are travelling south on Hwy 33 from Hwy 166 the range entrance road is about 2.6 miles south of that intersection. There is a 2' square white sign there that says "Palma" on the EAST side of the Hwy where the range road is. Travel up the dirt road and it will split at a rock pile, bear right (there's another small "Palma" sign). Continue east and there will be another dirt road leading off to the right about 75-100 yards in front of the closed gate. Take that right and it will lead you to the shade structure at the 800 yard line that you can see from Highway 33.

At the 800 line there is one shooting bench and we can put temporary targets up at 100 yards to check zeroes from it or prone, if necessary.

Nice work Frank!

FWIW, my GPS says the "Palma" sign on Hwy 33 is located at N34 54.288' W119 30.511'.

Should I bring my 375 H&H magnum for people to try?

I'd bring the 458 Win Mag but I don't have any ammo loaded and I'm too lazy to load any right now.

Yes, the dirt roads are graded and are no problem for anything except a hard core low rider.

Made it in two hours. Luckily the burned up toy hauler and resulting brush fire was on the north bound side of the 5.

I enjoyed meeting everyone and I came away impressed with the shooting ability of the CAPRC!

I had a fun time out at the range with everybody today. Big thanks to Frank and all the guys who were nice enough to share their range and donate their time to let us all shoot for the day. Thanks to Randall and Brad for running the show, and getting us fed properly (The asparagus was kick ass). Last but not least, congratulations to all the new shooters getting out there and making great hits all the way out to 1000 yards today. Hell, we even survived a dust devil on the firing line, and kept on shooting! See you all next time.

Oh man I thought he had me.......I was over 70 when I saw him. He missed me though and after that I drove like a turtle. Lucked out......I can't afford another point.

After we said our goodbyes, I got in my car and after all that heat all I wanted was my A/C. I fired up and got going home and reached for the A/C ........ and nothing worked. No fan, no A/C nada......I had to drive with the windows open. Brad had pulled over to do a small repair at the 5 on ramp. I stopped to make sure he was okay, got going and about 3 minutes on the 5, the A/C kicked on. Gdamn I was happy.

We didn't see the sand storm because we were under cover in the butts but that must have been when the wind gusted so badly that it broke the two target frames.

Thanks for the hospitality, the great food, the camaraderie, and the shooting. Was great training, and I have some real numbers to work with for my dope. I definitely need more wind practice, I was late in chasing wind changes most of the time. The ride back was nice, with great scenery through lockwood valley, thanks to Keith for driving. Exciting too, with the fire and all. I don't know if the rest of you saw the big group of rental sports cars, we saw a rolls or bentley (not sure which), bunch of mercs, a ferrari and a lambo, and maybe some others besides.

Much thanks to our hosts and everyone who worked hard to make it a great day.
Big lesson learned: Make sure bipod screw is tight.
Amazing feat encountered: The last or 2nd to last person shooting on #5 (not sure if there were one or two shooters in the last round) put 3 consecutive shots within about 3 inches of one another in the 9 ring.
