Understand that this is a basic fundamentals course. Much of the info you might be taught may be old news to you but I will guarantee that you will still learn some things to help improve your game. It will be worth your time. Even I, who have been doing quite well this past year in this game will learn a few things from the new course. The instructor will be Seth. He is a former marine scout sniper that was also an instructor. I don't care how much you think you know... you will learn something at course A. There's much more to making shots at 400yds then you might think. It all starts with the basics and a lot of good work at 100. Just because someone can shoot groups at 100 all day long doesn't mean they're doing it right and it certainly doesn't mean your in the know how to move out to LR.

Btw... course A will most likely be a prerequisite for course B which will definatly be a prerequisite for course D. Course C will be a posistional course and will be just as valuable to learn as any of the others.
Definitely looking forward to the revamped Course A. I KNOW I'll learn something new!! :)

What is this course D that you're talking about though? I recall having course A, B and C only.

I think they're expanding course A to course A & B. Course B will become course C and course C will become course D.

Does that make sense. :?:

I wish the slot is more than 12 shooters, maybe 15-20 shooters? Is that too many to have for quality instruciom for group class setting?

We are limited to 12 benches.
We are talking about going to 16 or 18 shooters, but it means two shooters per lane.
That means getting up and down and shooting two groups, OR squeezing two shooters into the 3ft openings between benches.

Ideally there should be 1 instructor per 4 students. For a class of 20 students there would be a need for 5 instructors. I don't think that would be a huge problem. I think it comes down to logistical reasons ie the number of firing positions we would be able to reserve. That would be something I would need to discuss with the club leaders. As far as quality instruction goes, if you had the instructor staff to meet the criteria I stated above there would be no loss in quality.

I still have gear in the mail. And, I need a range day to dial in my zero anyway. So, I'm glad it's been postponed until Feb because it's better than waiting until May. :(

But my sympathies to those who were on deck for this Saturday.

As far as class size, I'd rather wait longer for a small class than go through a large class earlier. Quality over quantity.

I'll be at ASR from 9 am to 12 on Saturday. I'm not much of an experienced shooter, but I'll have a torque wrench with me. Look for the tall korean guy on the left side of the rifle range.

Club leaders, although I am bummed about the late cancelation of the course "A" class, I am confident it was for good reason. The leaders of CaPRC have been fantastic with regards to promoting this sport in LA. This web page is a wealth of knowledge and the monthly matches are well organized, professional, friendly and always a great learning experience. Thank you for VOLUNTEERING your time to "pay it forward" to those of us who have much to learn. As someone already mentioned, I hope that the original 12 people that committed to signing up for Saturdays class get grandfathered into the February class. I am sure I speak for many others like me who do not post much; thank you for being so efficient and informative.

I want to thank every body for their patients while we rework your training courses. Let me assure you that it will
be well worth the wait. The information that you will receive in these classes is not something that is taught unless
you sign on the dotted line and pledge and oath to defend the Constitution. It will consist of 2+ hours of class time,
with a written quiz, followed by hours of 100yrd range time. So be patient and get ready for what we hope will be
some thing special.
And yes we are adjusting the B and C courses also.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people asking questions

I think Steven shot a total of 10 rounds by the time I left. You are a good man, sir. And an example of why this club is pretty awesome.

Btw, thanks for helping me get Ballistic FTE to match my data Randall. I need to pick up one of those Kestrels. I didn't realize the barometric pressure could could swing my dope by THAT much.

Would be very interested if the new date in Feb. is still open.
Is there a current calender of class schedules for 2011 posted? (Class A ?) I tried to locate one and to no avail.
If Feb is closed how can I get on the list for the next one?
Thanks for putting up with us newbies
