2013 SCPRC Entry Form December 7-8 @ SEWET GUN RANGE, ANZA

Post by Spaniard »

Hello So Cal Competitors,
The 2013 SCPRC is a GO and entry form is linked below. It's going to be held over the December 7th & 8th Weekend at the SEWET GUN RANGE down in Anza, Ca. Cost will be $175.00 per entry and all previous awarded catagories will be recognized. We will also have the team event which is $20.00 per team and that will go into the hat for the overall team winner to split up.

The entry form is now ready for download http://socalprc.com/. Having the match at the SEWET GUN RANGE will add some new opportunities for us to explore. All of it will be over terrain which should bring that outdoor experience back into the game.

We will hold this to just 48 shooters and this is on a first come first serve basis. 8, 6 Man Teams, Alpha-Hotel.

More details to be listed in the entry form at http://socalprc.com/

Regards, Mark & SCPRC Crew.

Mark mentioned something about some long distance shots... might not be a good choice for that...

Sounds like a lot of fun. I am new to comp style shooting but would love to get in on this. I googled SCPRC and it came up with a pregnancy resource page. Farther down I found a Southern California precision rifle page. I assume that's the page but there is not much information, and all the info is for 2012... Just want to make sure I don't miss it. Thanks for the assistance.

Look for the match registration form on here Sunday night. Fill it out and submit it. Only way to get ready for comps is to shoot them and I already have a lock on last place so just shoot it and have fun.. As long as you have a good zero and dope out to atleast 800 yards your doing fine

Oscar, if you have a chance to get to a monthly match, it'll really help you. If you cant make it to a monthly, oh well... go big anyway. It's a ball.... You always learn when you go to a match.

RelS- These matches are more for 30cal, and 308 based cartridges like 243/260/6mm/6.5 etc. Ask Mark if he'll let you shoot a 223. Be aware it doesnt perform anywhere near as well and the wind will really hurt you. Also, spotting impacts on steel can get difficult with 223- So it's gonna really hold you back.... but that's Marks call if you can run it or not. Be aware it is a bolt action competition- If you were thinking AR, that's a def no....

Gonna be fun....

The minimum caliber for the match is 6mm folks, the maximum is .30 Cal.

.223 Gets too hard to accurately call hits on steel out at distance.

I am finishing final touches on the entry form that will be publically posted tomorrow evening. I may do a mass mailing of all 2012 SCPRC Competitors tonight in case I get called out for work with the heat. However, whether you get it tonight or tomorrow evening, it won't change a thing since the US Postal Service doesn't pick up or deliver on Sunday. Nobodies getting an edge and there are some competitors that do not the forums. As they have told me.

Next weekend we are going down to Sewet to do hard layout work.

Moby.... Not much different from CAPRC except Mark has a few things...

1- night shoot. He has a lighting setup to light up targets. You can see them just fine with a regular scope when the lights are on.

2- Mark has a wireless timer setup. Each shooter has a timer with a button on it. You hear the buzzer to start time, fire the course and as soon as you fired your last shot, hit the button on the timer. This is what he uses for 'fastest 100/200/300' shoots. It will be a full squad shooting at once- a normal shot timer wont work for multiple shooters.

3- coldbore is important... 2 day match will have 2 coldbores.

Otherwise, same kinda thing as CAPRC- multiple shooting position, multiple distance, some you can dial, some you have to hold- COF will be explained to you right before you shoot it, and just run with- do the best you can.

oh- Mark has a thing against rear bags/socks. He's very likely to say no rear bags allowed. **Of course I cant speak for Mark- His Match!) However if he says no rear bags... He usually allows a shooting glove or a shemagh wrapped around your hand. He'll say before hand.

If you shot CAPRC a bit, you have a good idea of how this will go.

Julian,
Thanks for the details. I am assuming that once the application goes out information such as round counts for the match and other random bits of info will be explained?

Usually, when the app is available, so is an info sheet. If the info sheet is ready- If it isnt ready tomorrow, it will be soon I'm sure- in plenty of time before hand.

He usually has a thorough list of what you need, what is/isnt allowed, round count, etc.

You will need a flashlight, a red filter flashlight, clear eyepro for the night shoot (or whatever color you like that will work at night) Water, snacks, food...

Everything to be ready for a *FULL day* at the range until the night shoot is over. Perhaps there will be a dinner break long enough to travel for food. The info Mark puts out will cover this stuff. He's pretty thorough.

Thanks for the heads up. I wish I could attend a monthly match prior to this event. I am new to long range rifles, build a nice rifle and went out to k and m and shoot with those guys and did pretty well. I just found out about this site and caprc about a month ago. My wife is also due any day with our second child so bee tough to make it out, but I am hoping to attend a match before this shoot. Thanks again and loom forward to meeting you at the monthly and it this match.

Best regards,
Oscar

How is the "Team event" different than the individual? Anyone want to partner up?

I don't think there is a "team event". There is a Team Trophy, where to team with the highest combined score wins. Ask Snappy about that.......

Team event......

There are some stages, where the squad is firing individually, not as a group. As a team, you can spot and call corrections for your teamate. Its definately an advantage, but in prior matches, it doesnt happen often. Frequently, the entire squad fires together.

Thats the only difference.

Oscar,
There's a guy out in my area that's been wanting to try a monthly, and same thing.... Expecting his first... Life happens....

It would really help you a lot to get to a monthly before the big match. You have time. The big match isnt until Dec.

If you cant get to a monthly, and you go to this match, just introduce yourself, tell everyone you're new. Everyone will bend over backwards to help you out. Everyone always does. Dont be intimidated. Expect to be near last- go have fun- and learn boat load... You're first match is kind of overwhelming- it's so different, and so much to learn. The learning never stops though. Every match, I learn something.

So- you, me, and Eddie can battle for last. Eddie.... you moved to vegas?

Hey, leave room for me in that caboose of yours. Actually, I think I'm doing a good job of squeezing myself into last place all on my own. Sigh...

I think Postal is actually understating how helpful the folks in this club are. In the 2 matches I've been in so far, I have rarely completed a stage without someone talking to me about it afterward and explaining things I can improve on. It really is fantastic, because then you have something to practice when you head back to the range on your own.

If you do make it to a match, best advice for practice I can give (this is coming from another newbie) is get off the ground. I spent way too much time shooting from prone in the beginning.

Hey Men,
I will be publishing a list Sunday evening of who's on the roster. By the way, two teams will be reserved for the Military who are at various "places" waiting to get back to sign up. So for LE & Civilian there will be 36 slots up for grabs, I think we are around 20 on the roster.

Posting soon.
