Nice spot...Only thing I would worry about is there is no natural back stop except that one small hill...Rifle bullets travel a long way and as we see at our Spot, riders appear out of nowhere and they see a target and they usually stop, look back towards us and then realize that they are in a line of fire and then they look around nervously to see if it is safe to continue on or should they lay down...Kinda funny to watch if your on our end....Anyway we all stand up and waive the rider through...
Southern California so needs a outdoor covered spot as large as Pendelton and with distances to 1000 with pits...Oh well, dream on....
That little hill has a big mountain behind it but I do understand your concern. That big mountin in the background is the start to Echo range where the Navy drops Ordnance, there is the possiblity of ATVs and such but I picked this place becuase of the lack of trails, washes, or any hidden paths to the impact area. Even with all of that we ALWAYS keep a eye out and our ears open for any offroaders. You are 100% correct they will come out of now where and quick, that is what made me find this new spot.
Damn, 20 minutes to your spot? That is awesome....closest 1k yd range for me is 1 1/2 hrs in palmdale (desert marksmen) I would be there every day if I were that close ha! ha! nice pix
