Somone to shoot with at ASR?

Post by MisterMiles »

I'm looking for someone to go shooting with at ASR. I haven't specified a date since I'm in between work contracts and have lots of free time. Meaning I can adjust my schedule to the other shooter(s) much more easily.

I've been going up pretty regularly solo, mostly working on paper at 100-200yd range. Which is fine. However once I start to push out past that, I can't see my misses, so I have no idea what windage adjustments to make and quickly stop shooting at that range to avoid making any more costly noise. So I'd like to see if someone is available to spot for me and who I can practice spotting for.

Would love if it was a more experienced shooter with advice and knowledge and such, but I won't be picky. Almost anyone with the ability to look through a scope and say "your about 4 inches left" will work. Heck, I used my wife once forgetting that she really struggles sometimes with her lefts and rights. That was a fun day.

Please let me know if your interested. I'm hoping to get my feet wet a bit more, and then trying my hand at a match.

Hi MM,

I am good just about anytime. What caliber of rifle are you shooting?

Think I'm gonna have to take Stoopy's advice and attend the match. My only issue is my wife and I are hosting a memorial day bbq at 3pm on Sunday. Would the match be done by 2pm?

Downrange67 - Thanks for the offer, I won't be able to make tomorrow morning. Guess that's what I get by leaving the date and time vague, but I'll be up all night getting some bid work done that I have to send off tomorrow morning. My apologies.

MajorHeadTrauma - I'm shooting .308.

Since leaving a date and time vague will probably lead to a lot of back and forth on the forum, let me just say it this way instead.
I'm gonna request to shoot the match on Sunday. But either way, after that I'm open to shooting on the 29th, 30th and 31st of May. Any of those days, mostly because my next shipment of ammo will be delivered on the 28th and the match will probably wipe out my current dregs. If any of those days work for anyone, then let's shoot!

Had fun at the match this past weekend. Very beneficial in fact, I've already got a list of things to work on. Thanks everyone, especially Randall and Rich for putting it on.

I'm planning on heading back up to ASR this weekend to put some of that work in. If anyone is interested, let me what day works best for you. I'm free Friday (31st), Saturday (6/1) and Sunday (6/2). I'd prefer a morning shoot, once the line goes hot. But am flexible.

I forgot that the line does not open until 9am on weekdays so I will be at the range around 8:30 to 8:45.

Thanks all for coming out today. Had a blast.
Specifically, thanks to Stephen for helping me with my grip/trigger finger and Kevin for finally getting me on steel at 500 and 600. Gotta say, it felt damn good.

You're welcome Miles. Glad you were able to get out to 600. That's pretty darn good for your first time out!
