Alright here we go. Fair warning I went to a so so public school and I did not pay much attention while I was there.
Day one - This was the classroom part I hate and the thing I need to work on the most. We went over the Fundamentals of Marksmanship. I found out how bad mine really are. One of the first things Tyler noticed is the length of pull on my rifle was way too long. I have been shooting that way for years and had no idea it was that bad. This was the first of many bad habits he and his team found. My shooting position was also way left of being in a straight line behind the rifle. All of this was found in the first couple of hours before the first round went down range. Another hole in my game is my ability to help my fellow shooter make corrections. Right now I am worthless to anyone until I learn my math. I will be working hard on this over the next couple of months. Most of day one range time was spent on getting people zeroed and working on the fundamentals.
Day two - We started off reconfirming zero and working our way out to three hundred yards. This was also where one of the other instructors, Ryan Visket, found one of my other problems. I was squeezing the rifle with my trigger hand like I was mad at it...he had me try something new and my group size shrunk in half. I could not believe it.
Day three - We started off at four hundred yards, we only got out to nine hundred yards becuse of weather and other unforseen problems. My nine hundred started with a bad wind call on my part. Missed the first one but ended the day with seven hits in a row on a target that was 19in wide and 36in tall. Needless to say I was pleased with the weekend and what I had learned.
I would like to thank Tyler Hughes, Ryan Visket, Steve Langford, and Chuck Robbison. These guys have crazy knowledge and not a big ego among them. The course is worth every dime and before you try to purchase the "next tacti-cool add-on" take this course to work on the fundamentals.
