Good Evening Men,
Well Number SCPRC # 6 is in the books and has been for over a week. My apologies for not getting something out sooner, I got done with one big event and back to the grind and other life issues that needed to be handled. Demand is high and time is short. Some of you know what that's like I am sure.
Moving on, I am posting a synopsis of the 2011 SCPRC, our 6th which includes you and the crew.
The 6th Annual 2011 SCPRC Overall Winner was one of San Diego's Finest, Mr. Wayne Doeden-"DELTA 3", with a total score of 1278 Points.
Wayne just stayed quiet throughout the entire match, not one to get distracted he just stayed on track and it paid off in the end. He now joins a small cadre of SCPRC GOLD COIN WINNERS. You earned it fair and square Wayne and you did it with that ol' girl, the .308. She isn't the fastest or flattest shooting round no doubt, but in the right hands can get the job done and quite handily I might add. I guess you got one on Gordon, but I think he will be in the hunt next year. Good Job Wayne, you represented quite well along side with your posse of true riflemen.
We had 40 competitors and a staff of about 20 RO's the most we have had so far regarding staff. There were 19 stages and about 135 Rounds, give or take depending on how far you got. Like all matches there are surprises in the race, Delta Team was without question, a horse race within itself and within each 2 man team. I believe the 2 Man Hybrid Comp is the way to go, if you fail it doesn't hurt you individually, however a combined score can get you the Team Booty and some good team work with spotting shots and assistance. This year's kitty was $360.00 which is a nice bonus for the ride back home for the winning Team. Brad Bolves and Dr. Ryan Kerr took that home, great job guys. Not to shabby for a last minute union.
Day one gave us some fits with the wet weather, timing each competitor one at a time put us back, the multi-timer doesn't do well in the rain. We did allot during the week to prep for the rain in other parts of the range, mostly in the pits with paper stages in the match. Once the 300 Meter stages were completed, it moved along pretty quickly. Our target time to end the match was 2200 and our last shot fired was at 2210. I want to thank all the RO's who picked up the mantle and hustled, you did a great job. Anyone that has run a major comp knows how much work goes into these events. You can only really know behind the curtain. Overall we are satisfied with the match, we hope you were too. Reading some of the open and private notes, I believe we did that. Perfect, never, improvements to be made always, but overall I think everyone had a good time. I know we did. we'll be pouring over our notes in the spring to make next a better match. We have some ideas that we will be testing out. Good stuff.
Day two started with a cold bore shot at 500 meters, and making those cold bore shots both days are critical in the end at a Major Comp. All points help, however at 50 points a hit, getting both helps and those "Hot Bore" shots help out as well. The old man Kurt showed us a new technique, however I am not sure it will catch on, but interesting none the less. Wayne & Dustin were the two competitors that made that shot on day two, a tough one indeed. Good job guys.
To all those that competed, we hope you enjoyed the fellowship of like minded people and the match as well. Mostly we hope you cherish the memories for another time to reflect on.
We have two photo albums to publish, the first one is complete, however Photo Album # 2 is in the works and bigger. With close to 1600+ Pictures, it takes time to go through them all. Thank you for allowing us to freeze those special moments in time.
