Those who have participated in the "D" Clinics over the last couple years have confirmed zeros and danced with the wind at the Tri-County Rifle Club's range located in Cuyama, CA.
We are a small club of shooters who enjoy NRA style long range shooting, and have a monthly club match to satisfy our need to out think the wind - or at least try to.
With the exception of the month of May, the third Sunday of every month finds us at the range to shoot either a Palma match (odd months), or a 2 x 1,000 yard match. We use modified NRA rules; if you want to shoot the Palma with a .300 Win. mag, we're fine with it. (Though other shooters on the line may grumble if it has a muzzle brake.) Also, while we often publish a post match bulletin, keeping score is optional. These matches are about practice and fun, not competition.
The Palma (odd months):
1st stage, 800 yards, unlimited sighters, 15 record shots, 22 minute time limit.
2nd stage, 900 yards, two sighters, 15 record shots, 22 minutes.
3rd stage, 1,000 yards, two sighters, 15 record shots, 22 minutes
450-45x possible points (range record is a 450-3?x with an iron sight Palma Rifle)
2 x 1,000 yard (even months):
1st & 2nd stages, 1,000 yards, unlimited sighters, 30 minute time limit
400-40x possible points. (range record is a 399-3?x with an iron sighted .260 Remington Tubb 2k)
