For those stages in the Long Range matches that specify shooting from an unsupported position, the following are pictures of acceptable positions. Use of a sling is allowed, but not required. The Steel matches may have other restrictions.

In ALL positions the butt stock of the rifle MUST be at the top or front of the shoulder.
The HANDS may NOT touch the ground.
No part of the rifle may touch the ground to offer any kind of support.
Any supporting surface except the ground not specifically authorized by the MATCH DIRECTORS for use in the position prescribed is PROHIBITED.
Match Directors have the authority to DQ a competitor for a string of fire if in their opinion the position a competitor uses violates the spirit and intent of the stage.

We will allow this at the long range match because we have some shooters who have physical limitations that prevent them from shooting from the traditional sitting positions.

Great pics. This will make for less headache when it comes to enforcing things.

The "spirit and intent of the stage" is something I see causing problems. Comes down to personal interpretation and opinion. If we used the "spirit and intent of the law" shit, we wouldn't have off list lowers.

I like prone unsupported the best!!

I hear ya Rob. For monthlies, it should be easy. A no brainer. It's the Tbrc I was mostly talking about. Someone will always complain. This wasn't disallowed, you didn't say this, that, whatever. Thats why the pics and explanations are perfect. Very well described. Don't follow the rules, don't get any points. Simple.

So would this not be an acceptable seated position?
