CMP sanctioned Rimfire .22 Sporter Match
The purpose of these matches is to provide an opportunity for new and beginning shooters to learn and practice rifle shooting techniques using commonly available .22 Long Rifle chambered sporting firearms. Besides, it is a fun match for those that already “know” how to shoot well. A brief safety meeting is mandatory prior to starting the event.
Any .22 rifle may be used, EXCEPT Competition target rifles are prohibited from use in these events. The rifle used must be capable of firing a 5-shot rapid fire string.
Types of actions: • Semi-Automatic, • Manual including bolt, lever, pump.
Two classes of sighting systems permitted: • T-Class includes telescopic sights (scope) not to exceed 6 power magnification or aperture type receiver sights. • O-Class includes open sights consisting of a notch rear sight and post front sight.
Course of Fire CMP .22 Sporter Course. This will be a 60 shot match. See below for details. There will be a single ten minute sighting period for Stage 1. No additional sighting shots will be taken during the match except as may be authorized by the Match Director.
• CMP Stage 1. 50 yards, Unlimited sighting shots in a 10 minute sighting period. Any position. • CMP Stage 2. 50 yards, prone position, slow fire, 10 shots in 10 minutes. • CMP Stage 3. 50 yards, prone position, rapid fire (2 x 5 shot strings - Semi-auto 25 sec/Manual 30 sec). • CMP Stage 4. 50 yards, sitting or kneeling position, slow fire, 10 shots in 10 minutes. • CMP Stage 5. 50 yards, sitting or kneeling position, rapid fire (2 x 5 shot strings - Semi-auto 25 sec/Manual 30 sec). • CMP Stage 6. 25 yards, standing position, slow fire, 10 shots in 10 minutes. • CMP Stage 7. 25 yards, standing position, rapid fire (2 x 5 shot strings - Semi-auto 25 sec/Manual 30 sec). Current CMP Rules shall apply. .22 Rimfire Sporter scores will be reported to CMP. Official CMP scorecards will be used. Participants are eligible for CMP Achievement Awards. Competitors are responsible for providing their own rifles and ammunition for this match. This is a no-alibi match. Competitors are expected to ensure that their equipment is in good working order.
Americana 1800 Club has a limited number of bolt-action rifles available for use. Shooting mats can be provided, if needed. Please notify the match director prior to the match if you wish to use a club rifle or need to borrow a shooting mat. While the club may have .22 ammunition available for shooters using club rifles, we recommend that you bring freshly purchased .22LR ammunition of good quality with you. Any .22 Long Rifle ammunition of good quality is permitted including standard, high velocity and hypervelocity ammunition.
All competitors must use shooting glasses and hearing protectors. Per CMP rules, the use of shooting coats, gloves, match rifle slings and other competition equipment is NOT PERMITTED for this match. The use of the M1903 leather or WWII web sling is permitted.

Start Time: Arrive at the range by 9:00 am for registration. The later start time is designed specifically to encourage family participation.
Costs: Match fee is $15.00 for adults. The fee for all juniors (under 18) is $5.00.
