So ......today's match was the most difficult match todate having to team up with another shooter to work in tandem the way our boys oversees work, having to work as a team really made or broke you & the guys who really communicated with each other the best were the ones who really shined, you were pretty much as good as your spotter was. This presented a few problems for the guys who did not have matching turrets to match their reticles like the very old school outdated mildot reticles with MOA knobs or standard duplex reticles. For all you newer guys to PBR don't get discouraged YOU shot the most difficult match today congrats on completing it! We had 14 shooters with 1 fng Rich E who is no slouch Rich helps run the camp Pendleton matches for SMGC but this was his first PBR match. Get that hair trigger worked out & come on back tocayo!! We started up on the hill for the first 3 stages then moved onto the 500m pad. Weather was a bit chilli at times with the wind blowing with a slight breeze just enough to push your 400yd paper targets off the black X ring. Today's COF was as follows Shot gun pad** Stage 1 (Team relay holdover) - 8 rounds Beginning prone behind rifle, bolts back 236yd JC poppers, 307yd LV flappers, 393yd IPSC flappers, 514yd 8” plates No prep time 180sec shoot time On beep shooters will engage targets in the following order with 1 shot each - Delta, Bravo, Charlie, Alpha, then repeat. Advance if you miss. Shooters may not touch their knobs once stage begins. This is a relay meaning only 1 shooter on your team will shoot at a time. The other shooter will be waiting behind the firing line until the shooter fires, gets up, runs back and tags their team mate. This will signal the waiting team mates turn to run up and engage their target. You must relay after each shot. Evin & myself both scored 30 pts for the stage highest points scored. Stage 2 (Long range paper) - 5 rounds Beginning prone behind rifle, bolts back 400yd paper No prep time 70sec shoot time On beep shooters will engage their numbered target with 5 rounds. The shooters partner will be able to spot and help guide the shooter on the the target if needed. I Rich G scored 40 pts for the highest score on the paper stage with my gasser 308 Stage 3 (your dope is fucked) - 6 rounds Beginning prone behind rifle, bolts back 514yd 8” plates & 307yd “tooth” target No prep time 120 sec shoot time Shooters will dial their dope and then step away from rifles. RO will then spin shooters elevation AND windage knob (UP or DOWN/LEFT or RIGHT) no more than __ mils in any direction. A piece of tape will be placed over the scopes knobs and shooters are forbidden from pulling tape off or peaking in any way. On beep shooters will engage the 514yd target. Shooters should coach each other on misses to guide each other on to target (both shooters knobs will be spun the same amount). After the shooter has successfully hit the 514yd target they may engage the 307yd “tooth” with remaining rounds. Only 1 impact is needed per target. Each hit is worth 30pts and if both shooters successfully hit both targets they will receive 10 bonus points. Points possible = 70 We had a lot of shooters score 30pts Jason,Brett,Chris, myself,Joe,Evin,Netza 500m pad** Stage 4 (picking up the slack) - 6 rounds Beginning prone behind rifles, bolts back 150yd JC poppers, 220yd LV flappers, 320yd MGM spinner, 270 t-post flapper, 320 IPSC flappers. No prep time 70 sec shoot time On beep shooters will engage the LV flappers with 1 shot each (top to bottom). Then transition to the 150yd JC poppers with 1 round, then transition to the 320yd IPSC flappers with 1 round. If all targets have been successfully then shooters may attempt to spin the MGM spinner. Shooters will help each other spin the spinner with any rounds left over. 30pt bonus for spinning spinner. Must hit to advance. Shooters may elect to not try for spinner and engage the t-post flapper for 5pts instead if their partner does not have any rounds left to spin the spinner Stage 5 (buddy barricades) - 6 rounds Beginning port arms with mag in and bolts back 220yd 12” plate No prep 90sec shoot time On beep shooters will use their teammate to shoot over each step of the barricade with 2 shots. Rifle may not be supported by anything other than your teammates body. Jason,Brett & Arthur all scored 60 pts Stage 6 (calling your dope) - 5 rounds Beginning prone behind rifle with bolts back 80yd paper No prep 70 sec shoot time On beep shooters teammate will MIL targets on the sample sheet and give off calls to the shooter who will engage their numbered (Hidden) target. Shooter may not transition to the sample sheet at any time during the COF. Evin & myself cleaned the stage thanks to Joes spotting skills Stage 7 (shooting sticks) - 6 rounds Beginning port arms with mag in and bolt back 320yd 12” plate No prep 90 sec shoot time On beep shooters teammate will situate shooting sticks to desired position and hold them there while shooter engages target with 6 rounds. Jason & Brett scored 60 pts cleaning the stage Stage 8 (spin cycle) - 8 rounds Beginning port arms with mag in and bolt back MGM spinner No prep 120 sec shoot time On beep one shooter will go prone and the other will transition to tank trap. Shooters MUST alternate shots in an attempt to spin the MGM spinner. No more then 2 consecutive shots may be taken in the prone position (3 from tank trap) and then shooters must swap positions. Shooters must also swap positions after each successful spin. 20pts PER shooter for each successful spin on the spinner. Doug was the only shooter to successfully get it to spin thanks to his partner Jason who sadly ND'd on the transition zeroing the stage. Sorry homie Congrats to the top finishers 1st place Brett 278pts & also takes Top Team award along with his teammate Arthur 2nd place Evin 269 pts 3rd place Jason 265 pts 4. If you would have touched your knobs you would have zero'd the stage, we don't pass out the cof but we read out the instructions and let's them know you couldn't touch um. There is always a way to game a stage I agree. |

Would anyone be opposed to us doing this again? Say like every 6 months do a team match? |

I think it's a great idea, and I'm also curious about how you would select teams. |

Why not do one of each? Team match every so many months and a "pro am" style however many times a year. That's the extent of my brainstorming ability. |

Wow! An impressive (and somewhat intimidating) COF. I was sad I missed the match, until I read this thread, and now I'm somewhat conflicted. I definitely need more practice! Meanwhile, I hope everyone had an excellent Memorial Day. My thanks, thoughts, and prayers to all those who have served and sacrificed. All gave some, and some gave all. |
