First off I'd like to thank James for putting his rifle down bringing us a challenging match... Thanks Bigg homie!!!!

Today's match had a total of 15 shooters including 3 new guys to PBR...hope you guys enjoyed yourselves & hope to see you guys back. Larry, Darren & Phil did great today.

Just as predicted we had multiple target failures (paper stages) that had to be scratched but we improvised & kept on shooting.

The wind was a real challenge today with gusts up in the 30mph range with dirt & dust just getting into every part of your rifle, I had to bust out the cleaning rod to remove sand in the chamber & all up in the action. Closing the bolt was really hard & gritty but cleaning it a bit really helped, I know I passed the cleaning rod to a few guys.

Today's COF was as follows.... However they weren't in this order
Stage 1 - Warm up towel head
Targets - (2) IPSC flappers @ 395yds, (2) 8" hanging @ 515yds, (2) Skinny sammies flappers @ 310yds, Taliban target @ 150ish
75 seconds
(7) rounds
Starting prone with mag in, bolt back.
On beep shooters will engage the taliban target with 1 round) then engage their 395yd flapper with 1 round, then engage the 515yd plate with 1 round, then the 310yd flappers with 1 round. Then repeat on steel only!!
Cold bore hits were made Darren,Solo & myself
Joe H, Phil, Larry, & Eddy all had 2 hits on steel for the rest of the stage (highest for the stage)

Stage 2 - Holdovers (2 shooters at a time)
(6) Rounds
Shooters begin prone behind rifle, bolts back.
Targets- 310yd skinny sammys , 395yd IPSC flappers, & 515yd 8" plate
10 pts per hit
60 sec prep time
Starting prone with bolt back
On beep shooters will have 90 seconds to engage 310yd skinny sammys , 395yd ipsc flappers, & 515yd 8" plate from near to far then repeat. Shooters will advance to next target if they miss shot. Once stage begins shooters may not touch their elevation knobs.
Evin,JoeV,Jason, Danny all had 4 hits for a stage high score

Stage 4 - Long range steel circles 12"
This stage replaced our paper long shot stage because the wind was blowing so hard the paper stands & targets weren't holding up..... So the shooter had 30 sec to send 5 rnds down range & hopefully hit the huge steel.. With this much wind it was very hard to make hits.
Solo was kickin ass with that gasser scoring 4 hits for the highest score.

Stage 5 - Pool balls
Targets - 150yd blue / purple pool ball paper, 310yds (any size) red, green, brown, 395yds (any size) orange, yellow. 515yds black.
120 seconds
(10) rounds
Starting prone with mag in and bolt back
On beep shooters will engage pool balls in order of 1-8. All targets must be hit to advance and they must be hit in the correct order or the player will "scratch". The Black 8 target will be worth 30 points but a miss on this target counts as a "scratch" and a zero for the stage. The order & color of the balls were given just prior to shooting.... This was a fun stage
Evin & Joe V had 5 hits each for this stage.

Stage 6- tank trap hostage
Target - 250yd hostage IPSC
60 seconds
(5) rounds
Starting port arms
On beep shooters will engage hostage taker 5 times. -10 for hostage hits.
Joe H, Aaron, Solo & Evin all scored 3 hits.

Stage 8 - roof top
Targets - 310yd 10" white & 395yd 12" white
90 seconds
(6) rounds
Starting port arms with no gear staged on prop
On beep shooters will run up roof top and engage 310yd target with 1 round. Then transition to 395yd target and engage with 1 round. Repeat process until all 6 rounds have been fired.
Jason took this stage with 4 impressive hits on the rocking rooftop. Awesome shooting Jason!!

Wind conditions were miserable. Dirt getting kicked up everywhere. My chamber got gummed up and couldnt close the bolt in one stage. My trigger went down during another stage. I would squeeze and nothing. Then i would hit the stock and Bang! Squirted some one shot cleaner into the trigger works and was back in business. Goodtimes.

Thanks Rich and James for putting the match together. It's always fun seeing everyone (with or without wind).

Thanks guys, despite the conditions this was good experience in wind calling. Now I just need to deep clean my rifle.

In the worst wind condition I had to aim 1.5 mils over for wind. I don't know how the heck Jason got 4 hits off the rooftop, it was shaking my crosshairs about 3 feet on the target left/right really fast. I had 1 jam due to grit, some gravel got blown in and I couldn't close the bolt.

Otherwise, was a blast, literally! Was interesting to deal with that kind of wind, and I missed the wind direction change between stages where I had been aiming to the right, and had to aim about 1/2mil left instead.

On a totally unrelated note, a berger 105 sent at 3200fps impacts around 2860 at 200yd.
And sent at 3000fps, impacts around 2915 at 50yd, which punches a hole in semi-hard 1/4" plate. At 200yd it impacts at 2670fps and dents said plate.

I was at IMS (Industrial Metal Supply), they started carrying ar500 targets, looks like the prices are better than average but I didn't write any down. They have an IPSC plate that's about 18X24 or so for around $100 or $120 or so. Either 3/8 or 1/2" thick, but I didn't think to look close at them. Anyway might be able to use one of these cut up suitably for the mover armor.

This was a fun first match experience. Stories of the winds and dust will be shared for quite some time I'm sure. I think everyone got a free Lug Lapping lol.

I'll definitely be out again guys. A lot was learned and a lot to be learned. This is definitely the type of challenge I was looking for.

Aaron- dude on the phone says they sell precuts but they can't custom cut it unfortunately.

Hmmm...what to do. Should we just weld this bitch up with the AR400? What say you guys?

You could hang a 1/4" mild steel plate in front to act as a sacrificial plate. Any bullet that gets through won't have much energy to really damage the plate. And you make anyone that hits pay the damages.... That way we will all hold HIGH.

What about angling the front plate so it deflects the impact?

Well, what are the dimensions of the shield plate you need? It can be cut with carbide, if the piece you need can come out of this plate then I can cut it at my work. Elsewise, does anybody you/we know have a plasma cutter? I have a torch, it will cut it but the heat affected zone might be a little wide.

Jeff already cut the plate with his plasma cutter, the plate will hold up guys ... We aren't shooting it at 50yds. The 308 & 243 just dented it at 200yds.
