To help promote interest in the fast growing sport of precision tactical rifle competition, BRRC will be holding a training and clinic day. We will be concentrating on unknown distance target engagement (UKD) and moving targets, it will be a great opportunity for experienced shooters to hone these skills and those who are interested in giving the challenge of tactical rifle a try, there will be plenty of assistance and individual instruction available for those who want it. The course will be as follows;
UKD: The group will be given a set time period to range multiple steel targets randomly set in the canyon from approximately 200 to 1000 yards using the mill relation formula, following the ranging period, their results will be compared with the actual ranges to some of the targets, from the prone position they will then engage each KD target with a single round, and each UKD target with up to three rounds. Each shooter will run this drill twice.
Moving targets, 600 yards prone: The group will be paired up in to shooter spotter teams, each shooter will be given two sighters on a stationary target to confirm zero, after the sighting period closes the shooter will have two minutes to fire 10 rounds on a color designated moving target while the spotter relays information to the shooter, to indicate hits to the shooter and spotter the target will be “flagged” when struck, when time has expired the shooter will be given another two minute period to fire upon the target with 10 more rounds, after the first shooter has fired his 20 rounds the team will trade roles and the drill will be fired again.
Equipment: Minimum 50 rounds ammunition, a rifle scope with a milling reticle, spotting scope, ballistic chart for your rifle/load (range altitude 2600’) shooting mat, eye/ear protection, notepad, pocket calculator, food, water.
Note: there will be equipment available to loan if needed, you can make a ballistic chart for your rifle/load here;
